NEWS: The College Network Class Action Lawsuit Filed

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

A Class Action Lawsuit against the College Network has been filed in Ohio. In addition, the Federal Trade Commission is investigating TCN (again) for numerous violations.

This is relevant news to those nurses who were affected by this company, those who are currently using this company, and those who may be thinking about using this company.

An informed consumer is a smart consumer.

Will do, Mr. Alesia. Thanks for a great investigative article. It is great information to know! Thank you!

One of my husband's friends girlfriends bought into this. Thought she was going LPN to RN. No clinicals were held, but she still supposedly owes thousands.

I cannot give legal advice, but it might be worth passing the above link along to her...

I can't believe that in reading the court document referenced in the article, that I recognized the address given as that which appeared on advertising that I have received several times in the past for the ISU program. I shudder to think that one time I actually started to consider going with that program until I realized that the association with TCN was too close and inseparable. I would not have known to stay away had I not read all of the comments about TCN that have appeared on AN over the years.

Thank you so much for posting this! I tried to fight it when I initially signed up but it was too late and I was stuck. I pay it every month because I don't want it to affect my credit and my husband and I just bought a house. I will be filing a complaint with the attorney general. I really hope something comes from it. Thanks again.

You were smart to continue to pay - some people just stop, and that can wreck your credit. Whether or not their methods are ethical, the contract is a contract, and it is incumbent on the prospective buyer to do his or her due diligence before signing. It just proves that saying: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." What bugs me are the pressure tactics and predatory methods many students have described over the years. I wish everyone the best in recouping losses.

It might be helpful in your complaint to do a little research on your state's consumer protection regulations so you can clearly point out which regulations you feel have been violated from your consumer perspective. You can typically find your state's code online. From what the article says, many consumers in quite a few states have been let out of their contracts with TCN by simply going through the consumer protection offices of their state AG. I hope you get relief!

Best of luck!

As and LPN looking for affordable ways to transition into the RN role, I offer my thanks. A lot of what I've been reading regarding online programs sets off alarm bells for me. Yet trying to do it locally puts you on a waiting list that spans up to three years. Disappointing all around I say...

I am trying to find information on filing a lawsuit with TCN, if someone could help me I would gladly appreciate it. I fell victim to this and I need information on trying to help my situation. Thanks in advance...

Have you done so, because I need help on how to get started. I fell victim as well..
