Exelsior Students, HELP!

Students Excelsior

Published

Are their any Exelsior students out there who are going from the LPN to the BSN program who might possibly private message me a list of books I am going to need?? (and any other items I might need) Haven't enrolled yet so I can't get the list from them yet. I am in the process of getting a loan to pay for everything and simply need to know how much money I am going to need. Plus searching around to see if I might find them cheaper. I'm a single mom so cutting corners any way I can ;-)

I was told I could go on Amazon and purchase them cheaper so I just need to be prepared.

My email address is [email protected]

Thanks for any help or advice anyone can give! God Bless!

I'm doing the LPN to RN and I have gotten my books from Amazon, Half Price Books, and Book Renters. I spent 3.00 on my pharm book from Amazon. I got my med surg for 11.00 and rented a few. My books total were less than 100.00.

Excelsior doesn't offer LPN to BSN. They offer LPN to ASN. There is an entire forum dedicated to Excelsior College under colleges/universities section. You can go to the EC book store to see the list of texts. If you need non-nursing credits all of the exam content guides are online on the EC website

Many use their LPN books and supplement with study group 101 (Google or find on eBay)

Thanks so much for the info! My mistake about the BSN. I've gone back and forth between Indiana State, Chancellor, TCN and Exelcior that I guess they're all running together lol.

May I ask how long it took you to complete your degree and which course line you chose? Their set classes or testing out?

Chancellor & TCN aren't schools, they are publishing companies. Just, FYI. So be careful before signing up.

Very expensive publishing companies neither endorsed nor affiliated with EC. Neither company is qualified to advise you academically or on admissions. Buyer beware

Yeah I figured that out after getting into it all and researching them. I desperately need/want to get my RN license then BSN. But it has to be online because I work full time plus 3 children plus caring for my father who is blind, non ambulatory, diabetic, CHF etc and no help with him except an aide who does 3-5 hours X 5 days/week.

You can always get the ASN from EC then do RN to BSN through EC or Western Governors. is an efficient economical option for many to move up from RN to BSN.

I have been emailing back and forth with the Deputy Executive Director with the Virginia Board of Nursing and she explained to me that if you pick Excelsior College you will get what is known as a provisionary license and will need to complete an additional 250 hours of clinical hours after you sit for your boards. I have since changed my mind and am going for my BSN because that will give me enough clinical hours when I graduate.
