Excelsior transition exam

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Hello folks. I recently passed the health safety exam. Didnt do as well as I wanted for my first core nursing class. I studied for 8 days and managed to get a "C" using the TCN module and the practices tests. Im now preparing for the transition to registered professional nurse role exam. For this test im using SG 101 and the TCN module. Just wondering if anybody could give me some pointers. I.E.- how long did take to prepare, materials used, practice exam scores etc. I will be enrolling with excelsior after this exam and am hoping to take it in 2 weeks depending on feedback from YOU and my practice exam scores. So far the excelsior exams that I have taken are:

Developmental psych- 2/11 "C"

Sociology- 4/11 "passed clep" Was working alot so wasnt very persistent with studying

A&P- 7/11 "A"

Microbiology- 8/11 "B""

English comp (uexcel)- 8/11 "B"

Nursing health safety- 8/11 "C"

If anybody wants any advice id be happy to help. Ive pretty much have only used TCN modules and the practice tests. GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Hi, im getting ready to take the transitions exam. i feel like my head is spinning because of all the content. as far as the exam goes, you want to know the wars, theorists, laws and associations???? What else is important to know? Thanks!

Hi Yoder, Have you taken transitions exam yet? I just printed off the content guide so I will be starting to study for it in the next couple days... I have also heard that theorists are important to know as well as the laws are too! I never took a class in LPN school that had the majority of content based on these things (laws, history of nursing, theorists, etc.) so I am a little bit more nervous for this one vs. health safety. Good luck to you!

Hello, I was wondering what are TCN modules? I am currently enrolled in excelsior and I haven't heard of that study material. Also, I am taking Sociology CLEP now, and was wondering how you studied for it...Thank you for any comments :)

TCN = The College Network. They publish study guides and many students are under very expensive contracts with them. You can usually find used TCN modules on eBay.

I have used TCN modules for all the tests and have passed all of them with A's and B's in less than 2 weeks per test. Their study guides are spot on. They are expensive though.

Medic625-

I used TCN for all my Gen ed. Are you using the book and online mods or just the study guides??

Im think im going to use TCN or study101. Any other suggestions from anyone? 1 month a course seems doable. Im a ff/medic, so its nice to get other medics input on what works for you.
