    I really wanted to do the Excelsior program, but since I live in Illinois it is not practical. I am going to go through Indiana State University. I am wondering, do I need to be enrolled with Excelsior to take their non-nursing tests's, ex. micro?

    I believe that you can take the first one prior to being enrolled, but the others you must be enrolled. In October, you must be enrolled to take any of the nursing exams.

    I spoke with an Admissions person on the phone yesterday and they told me that you can take the non-nursing classes through Excelsior without being enrolled in the nursing program.

    Also, what is not practical about being in Illinois? I am doing the LPN to RN program and I actually live in Indiana!

    Illinois requires that EC grads have two years of RN experience to endorse a license. A full list of additional state requirements is here: State Board Requirements - excelsior.edu
