Excelsior A&P advice
- 0Nov 25, '13 by emtchrishello all I am taking my excelsior A&P exam this week and could use some advice. I have gone through the study guide given and know it by heart and have gone through my book and vangonotes. When I took my first practice exam I got a 53 before studying and a 65 after studying. while I enjoyed the increase in score I have concerns since a 65 is not a C. I was wondering if anyone had any last minute advice as I am craming for the next few days before the exam. thanks

- 1Nov 26, '13 by BSNINTHEWORKSWish my practice scores had been that high, but I still got a B on the real exam. Just be able to apply what you've been studying to patient care scenarios and know the proximity of organs. Choose your weakest area of the content guide and really try to drive home more understanding of that area, OR, pick your favorite or easiest areas of the content guide and really try to ace those. But whatever you do, skim over everything.
You say you know the content guide by heart. Are you saying that you the content guide or the information that each area of the guide has required that you know? If the latter is so, then you're good to go for the exam. If the first is true, then that is just an outline of far more to come and I would reschedule if I were you. But there again, your scores are better than mine were. Good luck on your exam!
- 1Nov 26, '13 by WorseNurseMy practice test scores were almost identical to yours. I just took the test this morning and got an A. I noticed from the practice tests and exam itself there there is more of an emphasis on physiology versus anatomy. It really helped to know what all the hormones and the details of what happens when a hormone reaches its receptor. This really provided a lot of multisystem functioning. I did a lot of cramming over the past week as well, which his a strong suit for me.
- 0Dec 12, '13 by Tru-NurseCongrats on your B @emtchris! I am currently studying for the same test. I was using College network but I recently added Studygroup 101 and Vangonotes because they came so highly recommended from other posts. I'm going to set my test date this evening and purchase the EC Practice exams as well. If you have any suggestions or tips for me I would greatly appreciate it.
