Excelsior Grad Nov '12 New RN!

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Hello my fellow EC friends! I wanted to update you on my EC experience! I took my first excelsior exam on October 2011 and passed my CPNE September 2012. Also I just recently took my NCLEX and passed so now I'm officially a RN!! I'm proud to say that I'm an excelsior grad to anyone who asks. Excelsior is not just the "easy way out" to get a RN degree. In my opinion it's way more harder than most RN programs around. You really have to be motivated and dedicated to pass excelsior. I hope my post motivates you to continue to try your best and don't give up!!! Your almost at the finish line!!

Specializes in School Nursing.

I thought Excelsior was the way to go for me since I was in my 50's when I graduated!! It was hard, but Study group 101 is what I used and I also used the study guides, picking them apart, making sure I knew everything on them for the tests. Graduated with a 3.7, I think! CPNE was another story. Yes I passed the first time, BUT, it was excruciatingly stressful. Take Sheri Taylor's weekend to get ready for it, since she has an extremely high pass rate on her students. It was an amazing weekend and I cannot stress using a "grid". Those of us who had a grid on my CPNE weekend, passed. Those without a "grid" did not!! I clepped many tests, using Instantcert.com. They are great and really prepared me for the exams. Good luck out there and God bless your endeavors. It is never too late to get an education!! I am a JH school nurse now and love it, especially 3 mos. off to spend with grandkids!!

Thanks for this post. It is motivation for me. I too am in my 50's and this is quite challenging for me, but I'm going to keep at it.

Congrats !!!! I'm doing the FCCA & Micro right now, then on to the CPNE !!! I can't wait to be in your shoes !! I agree: Excelsior is NOT easy !! And I will never EVER feel defensive when people ask my where I went to school because it isn't easy or for the easily discouraged, or needing a lot of support .. you must support yourself to learn !! I didn't do the College Network thing but I have to say I bought the Micro College Network book and it has been a lifesaver for me !! Congrats agian !! :roflmao:

Congrats!! I am an LPN advancing my career via the College Network and Excelsior. If I had to do it over, I would have just gone through Excelsior! that being said, I LOVE Excelsior! And I agree, it's harder than a traditional school, because you have to be super motivated to complete it! I hope to be posting the same results a year from now! WAY TO GO!!

CONGRATULATIONS, nursenoraRN!!!!

Congrats my friend ,I am so proud of you a bright future sits at you feet. Walk your steps with fierce determination . Nothing can stop you now.

Way to go!
