ok I can't get an answer from Excelsior because I haven't enrolled. Has anyone taken the english class for eexcelsior through straighterline and was able to transfer it to excelsior?

Hello Nurse Mary,

I am taking the Eng101 through Straighterline. I was told by my adviser that it IS accepted, since it is an ACE accredited course. I have two courses already on my ACE transcript, ALEKS beginning Algebra, and Penn Foster Info Lit. As soon as I finish the Eng101, I will have that added and send the ACE transcript to Excelsior. They are changing some requirements, as of Oct 1, and they will limit the number of ACE credits to 7 for the ADN. I know for sure that they do not accept CLEP for Eng101...

I have not yet enrolled, either... just taking some classes, and gathering up my credits. I just did the HG&D CLEP, also...

GOOD LUCK!! Hope this helps...

Excelsior is a partner with StraighterLine for guaranteed transfer creidt. You can find a list of their guaranteed transferred courses here: (English is on that list)

Transfer College Credit for Online College Courses to Excelsior College - StraighterLine

I'm an employee at StraighterLine. I previously worked as an enrollment counselor at (also a partner of SL) and spoke to over 1500 nurses on their journey to finish their degree. Many students take courses at StraighterLine to save money and then enroll at another school to finish their degree. The three most typically needed classes for RN to BSN students are Biochemistry, Statistics, and Nutrition. English would make my top 5 for most often still needed list as well. If any of you nurses have questions feel free to reach out to me personally [email protected] I'd be happy to assist you.

Do the straighterline courses have to be proctored if you are transferring them to excelsior. I know november 1st they all have to be proctored.

Hi, It is my understanding that Excelsior does not require the final exam to be proctored, but I recall that as of Nov 1, Straighterline is going to 100% proctored final exams. The cost of the courses will also be going up, to $49.

So.... anyone thinking of using Straighterline... I would say sign up in the next 2 weeks!
