CPNE workshop ( which is the best one to attend)

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Hello everyone, I am about to start my FCCA's via excelsior and then on my way to the CPNE- I wanted to know if anyone out there has recently taken the CPNE, how was your experience and if you attended a CPNE workshop, which one did you attend?

I would appreciate all comments.

I have been reading about a lady named Sheri Taylor , haven't read much about anyone that took the CPNE workshop at excelsior.

Congratufrigginlations!!! I am not there yet just finishing up my general classes haven't started the nursing part yet. I live in Raleigh so I am just gathering information for when it's my time. I CAN"T WAIT... then again yes I can lol.. Good luck to you!

Specializes in Emergency.

A big congratulations to you!

Has anyone tried the one from the Excelsior website? I live in northern Ohio, and there is one in Columbus next month, so that is kind of nice because all the other ones seem really far away.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Most students seem to find value in the EC workshop. The only complaint I have heard is that they can be crowded. But if it were close to me, I would do it! Learning from the people that administer the exam seems smart. It is also a great opportunity to network with other students for future study group opportunities - in my opinion, those bonds are what make workshops such a great investment!

I know of 2 people that went to one of Excelsiors, both said they were a waste of time (mainly due to being overcrowded).

Specializes in Pre-hospital, ER, ICU and PACU.

I took and passed the CPNE in Madison, WI back in 2007. Like many of you, I read all the material and was still very confused as to the set up of the exam and what was expected.

As a Paramedic, I am very comfortable with skill testing and, I felt confident about my abilities to perform the patient care scenarios. What I was confused and nervous about was the care plans and an overall sense of not knowing what I was in for.

I am not sure how I heard about Tina and her workshop (visit her web site at CPNE workshop) but I would not have passed without it! Tina's program is divided up into lecture and skills labs. In the lecture portion she goes over EVERYTHING in great detail, tells you want to expect, how to write it and provides you a mnemonic for everything. When you get to skills lab training, you will practice, practice and practice again each skill until it becomes second nature. When I left Tina, I was 100% confident that I knew what to expect and moreover how to pass the CPNE.

When I took the exam in Madison, WI though I was very nervous, Tina's words of wisdom and mnemonics came right to my head. When I sat down to write care plans, I used her tips and techniques and passed with flying colors. Yes, I made some small mistakes here and there but they were nothing to cause me not to pass.

I know money is tight for everyone but if you invest in Tina's prep program you will pay for the CPNE ONCE! The way I justified it was I can either wait six months for a test date and prepare once or I can waste another six months to test again while not working as a nurse and loose half a year nurses wages waiting for a second test date. Contact Tina. You won't be sorry J

Best wishes,

Pattie

Tina's workshop is EXCELLENT. It was so cheap and honestly helped me. The videos were so detailed and you could actually follow them and do the skills yourself while following along. She is funny and gives EXCELLENT invaluble lessons as far as the PCS with the care plans and the documentation. I couldnt believe it was practically free . She answered my emails and was human and actually answered my questions . The mnemonics were better than others. The information is all videos and she has downloads that correspond to each portion. The videos are very good quality and each module has 4-5 documents with mnemonics and blank forms . For the mediation calculation she goes into step by step math equations, and does IV push, SubQ, IVmeds ..This lady ,with the cost being only 99 dollars, you know she isnt in it for the money ... The videos are taped with students so at the end she says' any questions"? lo and behold they ask the pressing question on my mind. If you do any online course , this is a must bc it's only 99 dollars..Invaluable information

could you please post a link for some of these . What is " the Rave" I'm looking for something in the DC /virginia maryland area

Tina's CPNE workshop is invalueble . She gives you a login and there are soo many videos that are free. Yesteday I did a live video webchat thing with her and 5 other students , LIVE. We read patient scenarios and then she wrote a care plan and she went through the thought process as she wrote them ..We got to ask her questions through a microphone and it was life changing. I now at least have the confidence to know that I can pass the CPNE. The class was 9 hours long .It lasted from 10am - 7pm and we stopped for lunch and breaks. She basically did a powerpoint presentation that we all " SAT -IN " on live ..She encouraged us to ask questions, she asked for our cell phone so we could resume ..This lady is amazing . I am so extremely lucky , blessed , whatever to have come across TINA'S CPNE workshop , because I am from DC/Northern VA area and there are no in person workshops I can attend, bc they are either on the west coast or in Atlanta. I would recommend this to anyone studying for the CPNE.I dont have a date yet but i am confident that I will rock this test . I can't believe she gave me a login and password and I was able to access all these free videos with worksheets, mnemonics, skills stuff ABSOLUTELY FREE. THe only thing I had to do for the live Webinars, live chats, Im not sure what you cal them was download an app called ZOOM. She sent me a link in an email and I clicked on it and I had to download an app called ZOOM and then I was done. I sat in the library all day writing /copying care plans from scenarios, and when I was done I actually wrote 23 care plans ( I'm GONNA be an RN!!!!) . The hardest part of the CPNE , to me , is the PCS not the skills workshop ( BTW she has free videos on her site , along with areas of care , critical elements). She shows you step by step what to do , in the 1.5 hours by first looking at kardex, writing a grid and then highlighting things before seeing the pt ..If anyone out there is studying for the CPNE , I would highly recommend Tina's CPNE. SHe's not in it for the money. Why would she give me a free login and password when she could charge me; she said the videos are from the 20th edition rather than 21st but 99% of the material still applies and is relevant. I am also registered for Sheri Taylor's workshop .They also have excellent videos but to actually sit -in on a live webinar where there are only 4 students where I can ask her questions is INVALUABLE to me, where she tells me this is right and that is wrong and why, to me is truly a miracle. Hands- down, this is the best 50 dollars I have spent in my entire life. When the Library closed on the east coast , she asked us to take a 20 minute break so she could give her twins some strawberries, and when I got to Starbucks she was back . This lady has a heart of gold, holds two master's degrees and is true gem.
