I assume that's Chronicity. I took it yesterday, made an A. I studied lightly (1-2 hours a day) for about two days. For day 3 I studied about six hours. For day 4 I studied about 10 hours and for day five I studied about 8 hours. On test day I spent approx. 6 hours reviewing the practice tests. Check out the thread "Onto Phase II" at the top of this forum for some info on what to expect.

I used SG101, Saunders NCLEX Review and a Pathophysiology text book for help with the sensory impairment section. I also used various online youtube videos for help understanding the eye and the diseases associated with it.

Fundamentals is covered in Health Safety, Health Differences and part of Chronicity - you should be able to review those and take the Fundamentals 210 exam... you might compare the outlines and see if the same areas are covered...

You can only take the Fundamentals exam referred to by the OP if you are not an EC student. This is a UExcel exam that does not count for the EC associates degree.

This exam has it's own content guide/syllabus

the school said they may accept it and i emailed them a course description/outline. so i'm waiting to hear back if its okay before i invest time and money. its for a lvn program to avoid taking the fundamental class at the school. the dept of nursing will be reviewing the EC exam.

It's an associates level exam for RN so they may or may not accept it. Fundamentals is the cornerstone of nursing education and encompasses a lot from legal issues to basic procedures. Are you working as a CNA? Why would you want to test out of a core course?

Yes, I have been working as a CNA for five years and saw an lvn program that will be starting in october and requires fundamental nursing or as stated on the website 'equivalent'. Since I missed the fundamental class that was held in may, I researched about fundamental exam EC and how some colleges accept the course. So I contacted the school assistant director to see and she now reviewing the course. She said if its a go, that I may be able to squeeze in october program but if not, I will have to wait for the class to start in Jan 2015 for the june lvn program 2015.

There aren't class hours associated with a challenge exam (as you are not in class) but you would receive a grade at the end of the exam. There are potential credit hours earned at the discretion of the school accepting the challenge exam. Similar to CLEP exams.

From the outline it looks like areas from Transition (NC7), Health Safety (NC1) and Health Differences (NC2) - you can get study guides for all three for $10 apiece from studygroup101.
