No truth in that. Six of us, nurses that I know personally, graduated in 2010 and we all work med/surg....never been to a federal facility. Check the BON website for specifics.

An Excelsior graduate can work in any federal facility in this country without the hassles of endorsement if they want. Your issues, depending on your clinical background, will be with additional clinical hours prior to permanent licensure if your experience is limited. Again, check with the BON to see where you would fit in.

Prettyplay24,

In GA you have two options when getting your degree through Excelsior:

1) Complete the program, apply for RN licensure through GA you will told that you have to work 960 or 980hrs with a preceptor before you can take the NCLEX-RN. Once you complete that time, then you can take your NCLEX-RN for GA and work anywhere. Before moving our of GA I knew about 5 nurses that that I worked with (in GA) that did that route).

2) Complete the program, apply for RN licensure through another state (which ever is closest bordering state....SC, TN, NC) then do your RN endorsement to GA (many nurses took this route because was faster....the 3 states i mentioned where the common that I heard)

I moved out of GA early this year ....... the newest nurse I worked with that did the EC program and endorsement became a GA RN in Sept 2012.

Good luck to you!
