Our volunteers do all sorts of things! They get medical records, help hold patients still for procedures, stock supplies, help call transport or resp therapy, answer phones. they are great with answering call lights and directing visitors to patients or taking patients out the door for discharges. ect...They are always happy to help in any way they can. We just love them!

How can we attract more volunteers to OUR ER?!!! (And , are they allowed to do any filing?)
I find myself doing tasks which could easily be done, even by an untrained clerk, such as running a forgotten consent to CT, or digging through last night's 100 files for record of this patient on his return visit. Meanwhile, 2 ambulances are coming in, my pt in the cardiac bed needs another ntg sl and repeated v/s, and the IV pump in room 6 won't stop beeping. One of our doctors is so anxious to get the chart from the last visit, that he'll split the stack with me and we dig through last night's records together!
Welcome to the County ED!! Volunteers will be GREATLY appreciated!!!
