Presby Dallas ER

Specialties Emergency

Published

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about Presby Dallas' ER. I am considering an internship position here but do not really know much about their ER. I know everyone is probably thinking then why did you apply. Well like most new grads, I applied everywhere and did not expect to get choosen since their were very limited spots available. I was wondering if anyone went threw their internship and what were your thoughts. I wanted to know if they did computer charting or paper charting. Also wanted to know as a new grad would you get a good foundation. I really had my heart set on one of the level 1 facilities but I did not get any offers so I am now trying to get some info before I decide what I will do. I also wanted to know if the weekend differentials stacked. I was told by a classmate that they did not stack their 3-11, 11-7 and weekend diff's together and that if you worked weekends you only got your base + the weekend diff. Not sure if this classmate had facts or was just making this up because it seems hard to believe. The only thing that I have heard is thaTHR is a good company to work for but that's about it. The only other option which I have been told is crazy is to apply at the two level one facilities that I really wanted as a RN1 on a medsurg floor and then try to work my way up. I do not really want to do this but I am not sure if Presby would give me a good foundation as a GN. The facility looked nice and the RN's their were really nice and made me feel welcomed. I have been told that it would not be a bad choice but I have not gotten any real feed back so I am hoping someone here will be able to tell me more about this facility.

Thanks,

mbrason

If you have a job offer I would grab it. Jobs are scarce right now. You might not get another offer very soon.

I guess no one knows about this ER. I was wanting some info about this too. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. I have a friend that works at another THR facility and she said that THR is nurse friendly and that I should just take the job and if its not what I expected then I can move on and take it as experience under my belt. I hope this helps.
