Nursing Speciality

I am currently looking into schools to apply to for the spring semester to get my Prerequisites done. I was wondering though if there is a certain field of nursing that i should specialize in if I am wanting to eventually become an Emergency Nurse. Thanks for the Help.

Default Re: Nursing Speciality
Are you asking about during school or afterwards? Afterwards you can (try) to get a position straight into an ED. During Nursing School it's pretty much similar everywhere - you don't "pick" where you are. Most schools have several rounds of med-surge, do psych, LTC, OB, Peds, and maybe a critical-care rotation. Many places have a senior semester practicum - if you can, get it in the ED, if it's still what you want come graduation.

Least this is from my pre-nursing standpoint. Best of luck!
