New nurse to the ED and looking for some good literature

  1. 0
I am interested to know if anyone uses any good resources for working in the ED. Books, small flip charts, resource sheets. I know the hospital has policy and procedures, but I'm more so interested in some good reading at home, or tools to use on the job. What are some of you using?

You will have much more luck doing a search on this topic. It has been discussed ad nauseam on this board.

Get Sheehy's book on Emergency Nursing. It's like the ER nurse's bible, lol. As for apps, I personally like CriticalCare (the icon has a mediastinum in blue with a red heart and ECG tracing), ACLS manual, 3in1 Lab Values+, DripsManager, Micromedex, Medscape, 10 second NIHSS stroke scale, BlueCard, and PALS Advisor.

I also like Jean Proehl's book on ED procedures -- I have a hard copy and an e-copy on my Kindle.
