Hello, I'm a student nurse in Australia, and my google searches are coming up empty! What does an ER nurse do in an emergency situation other than vitals and care planning as google keeps telling me. If a person came after a serious car accident, with cuts and breaks and all those bad things, what does a nurse do immediately to get a person stable before getting all your subjective data and other less critical things?
Go to you tube and watch some real life documentaries on the ER. There's lots of them for free. If you have Hulu, there's some good ones too.
I agree with the above. However, I was told by an ER doctor who is originally from Australia that the nursing scope of practice is very different there, so you need to take those limitations on your practice into consideration.
