Clinical rotation in ER-advice please

  1. 0 I am an LPN student and my first clinical assignment is in the ER. Keeping in mind that I have only been in school five weeks, I would like to be as helpful as possible without annoying anyone or being more of a hindrance than a help. We are only allowed to do basic patient care like ADL's the first few weeks and no passing meds, etc. I would like advice on what to do and what not to do from all the ER nurses out there. Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome. ADLs in the ER are pretty basic. I would latch onto an experienced RN in the ER who likes students and follow them. Make it known you want to see any and everything and nothing is too menial. Enthusiasm and a smile always make me want to help students.
