ACLS - Nursing Student

Specialties Emergency

Would it be silly for a nursing student to take an ACLS or PALS certification course before completing school? I would like to eventually end up in Emergency nursing but I think that this would look good on a resume for most positions, but I don't want to be in over my head. Thanks in advance for your advice!

I took ACLS during my last semester in nursing school (it was included in the tuition) and I think it was a very certification to have when applying. I think it gives you an edge over other applicants. Plus some hospitals have a tight budget, so if you already have that certification they dot have to spend the money to send you to a class. Some hospitals pay a little more too. It is an expensive class, so if you can afford it, i would say go for it.
