Applying for UIC DNP...

Specialties Doctoral

Updated:   Published

Hi all! I am applying for the DNP program at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with a primary care AGNP specialty. Does anyone have any suggestions on building a strong application? I have worked mostly on a med/surg unit and a surgical step down for the past 4 years (as an active duty RN). I have been on 2 deployments. My undergrad GPA was 3.55. Any suggestions are welcome as I am stressing out about the application process, separation from the military, and a move back to Chicago. Thank you!

I'm waiting to be able to log into the system, although it's probably going to take me a little longer since I turned in my enrollment confirmation+deposit late. I've started plugging away at getting my Certified Profile/Background Check done, though. It feels good to be accomplishing stuff.

Is anyone planning to start the part time FNP program this fall?

Is anyone doing this SENS program this summer?!

I really, really want to do the stats/epi one, but it just won't work with my work schedule.

I really wanted to do the SENS program as well but I won't be moving out there until the end of July so I won't be able to unfortunately :/

I am the same boat as everyone else. I want to do the sens program but I'd have to move my schedule around last min...it would be a hass. But I do wonder if it would be worth it...has anyone heard of this seminar helping students out at all? I just want to know if it's a pointless seminar. I tried contacting that Cherise lady to see if this class actually meets every tues and Thursday but no call back or email. Speaking of lack of call backs, has anyone made appointment with an advisor yet? I have been contacting graduate admissions to set up an appointment with an advisor and I have been just getting automated messages the past week. it's like no one answers calls at this school. Pretty ridiculous.

Does anyone know when we get to speak with our advisor? The email from (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) stated after the program starts...but there is a hold on registration until you meet with your advisor. I just want to know what my classes are going to look like so I can plan my work schedule around them. I'll also be going to both SENS sessions, but I'm already planning on missing a few. I can upload notes from class if anyone is interested? Hope everyone is enjoying the last few months of "freedom".

Hey usafran! How are you? What specialty are going into? Were you able to make an appointment with an advisor? If so, do you have any direct contact info because I have been calling every number, either no one answers or I get an automated message. 100% of the time I get no call backs. You are so lucky for doing the sens program. Let me know how it goes. Yeah if you wouldn't mind sharing the notes. It would be much appreciated :) hmmm I wonder if it is too late to sign up still since it doesn't even start till next month. :/

Hi ohsnapples! I'll be doing the AGNP primary care track. What about you? I was unable to make an appt. I'll call again today to get more info but I guess we should be able to register mid July. As dar as the SENS program, try signing up when you click the link provided in the email. I won't be attending all the sessions since I'll (potentially) have a new job. If you don't attend, I will get you a copy of any notes from class!

Awesome!!! Yeah I'm doing the AGNP acute program though. :) so I talk to lady that does the sens program...I was able to sign up last minute but I'm also won't be able to attend all classes either :/. I asked her about scheduling with advisors and everything. She said we should be receiving an email about our advisors within a month. I thought I was like behind on all that. Well hope to see there!:)

Is anyone else planning to do part-time? I have tried calling and emailing to get a sample course schedule for the part-time program, also with no response.

Just curious about what others are doing.... Thanks!

How is everyone doing? How are classes going?
