Hey Nicole
(and everybody else waiting to hear about acceptance in the Fall 2008 cohort)
In my opinion:
Try not to stress out right now, everything's out of our hands. We either will or will not get accepted this time around. We have no control and can't change any outcome. So why worry? Is it going to change anything? No. Worrying about an outcome AFTER you've done everything you can do is really just a waste of energy and actually self-destructive.
Try to trust in the process and just know, that everything's going to work out. Just like everything has in the past. One way or another....it all works out to your best interest...whether we can see that at at the time or not. That old "20/20 vision hindsight" can be turned into peaceful thoughts for future endeavors once you remember that everything works out in the end.
I don't want to sound "preachy" but at 47 yrs old, I've learned a few things about life. For instance if you or I don't get in this semester and have to wait until Spring, that little "down time" while waiting could just be the thing we need mentally/emotionally/physically after rushing through to finish our pre-reqs. Maybe if we have to wait, it's because we're supposed to meet someone that's going to be very influential in our careers--that we wouldn't have met had we got in this semester. Those who get in this Fall are on the right paths...for them! Those who have to wait are on the right paths for them, too.
It's amazing how much easier life gets when we really just do the best we can do---at the time---and then let the "process" take it's course.
The power of positive thinking is pretty spectacular. There's only two choices: Relax or worry. We DO get to choose. We can either "dance alone if we have to" or we can sit in the shadows and wonder why nobody wants to dance.
These are the types of "life-skills" we'll need to perform optimally as a medical caregiver. Relax-Do-Trust-Let go-Relax-Enjoy.
That's my two-cents worth. So let's enjoy the summer. Everything's gonna be fine! Let's DANCE!
BIG HUG,
Renee
