So here's my dilemma, I've booked an international flight (way back in Jan) to Germany that departs on Aug 13, so that means that I can't go to the orientation.
So I just want to know what I would be missing if I didn't go to the orientation. What do you do at orientation and how long does it last? Do you think it would be feasible if I had someone go for me and videotape it so I don't miss any important info? I'm trying to figure out what to do because changing my flight plans, that I made back in Jan, would be VERY expensive.
Please let me know when you get the chance, I'd really appreciate it!!
There are two orientations, the first one goes over financial aid, books, uniforms, immunizations and logistical stuff and the second is a chance for you to meet students, get familiar with the computer lab and skills lab. Have you been accepted already? I would talk with Kennessa or Phyllis regarding this issue because I am pretty sure they would be willing to fill you in on what is needed, before you go changing your flight info. Have they already let people know who's in for the Fall? Good luck!

Hi HelloKitty,
I also applied for Fall term. Do you know if you got in yet? I'm beyond nervous to find out. I just finished my prereqs this spring semester and still have to send in my final grades...hope that doesn't lessen my chances of getting in. I'd be so bummed to wait another semester.

No, they haven't let people in the fall program yet. We won't know their admission decisions until mid-July. Does the orientation (the second one) last all day? Thanks for the info wannabe07!

Yeah I don't know if I got in yet. I'm just one of those people that like to worry about things way in advance. I actually have one more prereq to finish-History. I'm taking this short term online class at City. I'll be done with it on July 2. I don't think finishing your prereqs during spring semester will lessen your chances. I know a few people that started June 2 and finished their prereqs during the spring semester (08), which ended on May 24. Plus I have a few friends that are hoping to start in the fall that have yet to finish prereqs. I wonder what the criteria for admissions is anyway-GPA? I don't know. I think someone told me also that as long as you have 90% of prereq classes done at the time of the application, it also enhances your chances, but I'm not sure if this is true. I am nervous about getting in too. At first, Phyllis made it seem like getting in was a sure thing. But now after reading this forum and knowing that its impacted-i don't know anymore! and I would also hate waiting another semester. Keep in touch.

What else do you do at orientation, besides getting familiar with lab and the student forum?

I thought it was a sure thing to get in too. But like you, after reading through these forums, I'm nervous there are too many applicants. I have pretty good grades, but I think all of us trying for this do. On their website the only GPA requirements is at least a 2.5 overall and at least a 2.5 in science. I am taking government over summer, it ends in July. My brain is so stressed I totally forgot about that. Mid July seems so far away! I'm making myself more scared reading through here about the course load and everything. But at least I can really prepare myself for it. I better enjoy this summer though if I do get in! My last few months of freedom lol! I will definately keep in touch and let you know of anything I hear.

Re: University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
Hey luckyred07 and Hellokitty45,
I've applied for Fall as well. I hope we all get in but since it seems like the word is getting out on the program, that it is more impacted than they made it out to be. Kenessa told me I shouldn't have a problem getting in and she is on the council. So hopefully, I can make it in this fall. Good luck to us all!
