Well, we learned a great deal about Rue on this site and maybe Excelsior is ok.(using the books and materials mentioned here). I hope so. It was very stressful to try and make such a major decision in a couple of days. (It was a special!!!!!) The hook is that it's only $99/month with no interest. All you can think about is that it is imposssible to work full time (and more) and sit in classes. I feel relieved that I turned down their offer. By the way, the money included the online program, and books, of course, but not the costs of tests. I just got my license, and think I'll just enjoy working for a while. I have a great job. In that it included the online classes, maybe it was acceptable........I just didn't know. What do you all know 'bout the cost of Excelsior?

You can find out the cost of Excelsior on their website. It is not bad if you leave out the thousands of dollars that some people waste on publishing companies like Rue and The College Network. The trick to Excelsior is not procrastinating and getting it done expeditiously. Every year you remain enrolled you have to pay an administrative fee that is around $450. Get in, get it done, and save money.

I know it's thousands cheaper if you avoid signing contracts with publishing companies. I think I paid a little over a thousand out of pocket for my ADN from Excelsior. My employer paid for a lot of it through tuition reimbursement, and I also got a scholarship from my hospital. Avoid those contracts!

OK guys, I signed one of those lovely contracts with RUE. In the end I think the total for all of my materials was something like 4,500. My last payment with them is next month. Am I happy that I spent so much money on these materials? Absolutely NOT! BUT...I cannot AT ALL complain about the materials that they have supplied.

Ive paid 125/mo for the past few years---and am VERY happy with the result--Ive had wonderful grades on my exams. Ive heard pretty bad things about TCN and others that dont cover everything needed for the exams. RUE on the other hand DOES follow the Content Guide.

Am I saying sign up, NO! You can do this without them. But Id hate people to falsely believe that RUE is a horrible company that doesnt prepare you and doesn't care. I have a wonderful advisor that calls me on a regular basis and makes goals with me. I also have met plenty of wonderful people through the Mentor Connection. So...I find it extreme to call them Con Artists or Scammers...they ARE overpriced though....

Just thought I would put in my 2 cents...

I don't think it is a scam either. It is what it is. It's best to know exactly what you are signing up for. I signed with Chancellors after trying it on my own and I don't regret it. It worked better for me. To each his own. Just check out what you are getting before signing.
