I've been reading this thread and wondered if anyone knows of a RN-BSN program that doesn't require a lot of humanities/global issues classes? I have 2 associate degrees, one in medical assisting and one in nursing. I have been an RN for about 4 years now. I have about 150 credits but all are science, math, and social sciences. I have no humanities or history or anything like that. I have a TON of chemistry, math, speech, psych etc. So, I'm looking for a program that won't require me to take a ton of extra history classes etc. Does anyone know of any programs that would be appropriate for me? I have been frustrated because many of the colleges I've spoken to are wanting you to apply before they will evaluate your transcripts. Also, has anyone gotten their BSN from Western Governor's university? I've been looking into it and its affordable and looks like an interesting program!
Thank you
Maria

I am in my last course for RN-BSN online through University of Wyoming. I honestly don't know what their humanities requirements are (I already had at least 9 hrs. from my AA I had before entering nursing) but maybe I can give you a link that might help. I think UW is reasonably priced compare to lots of other schools, about $140/hr regardless of state you live in.

for the degree requirements and
http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/nursing/info.asp?p=5183 for the homepage for UW's RN-BSN program
Best wishes!

I think it just says college credits, period ... doesn't say they have to be gen ed credits. So I guess the nursing credits would count?

Did you take five classes a semester? How much computer time and off computer time did it take roughly? Daily hourly? Are there a lot of assignments and tests that are not done online? Do you really need the books? How much is the program if you take it in two semesters and live in TX? Thanks!!

I was wondering if anyone could give me more information on the FHCHS, UoW and Slippery Rock programs. My situation is that I'm 16 years old... I graduated a year early out of high school (I did virtual high school for my last year so I have no problem with online schooling) because I wanted to get a jump start on my nursing career (since I have the ultimate goal of being a CRNA). I have decided to attend community college and get my ADN because not only is it cheaper, but I am guarenteed admission (at little or no cost out of pocket). I really want to obtain my ADN (in less than 2 years- I plan to sign up for school in the Spring of 2010 attend Summer session of 2010, fall session of 2011 and then Spring session of 2011 and take my NCLEX be certified before Fall semester of 2011). I plan to attend an online program because I want to get a job at my local hospital (so I can gain the ICU experience I will need to apply to CRNA school... So while I get my working experience I want to do an RN-BSN program with either FHCHS, UoW or Slippery Rock. From all 50 pages of this thread I've read, I see that UofW is surely the cheapest of the three (but it has it's downfalls), then FHCHS and Slippery Rock as cost is concerned. The next thing I'm wondering is which is the shortest to complete? I'm really interested in a 12-18 month program (and I'm SURELY willing to double up credits/ classes if it guarantees I'll finish faster). My main goal is to complete school (REALLY learn about nursing, etc) and clinicals are not an issue at all. If anyone could provide personal experiences with either of those schools I would REALLY appreciate it, and thank you for taking the time to read this all!
