I got to University of Phoenix and like it a lot. The program is about 18 months. You attend new classes every 5 weeks. You can call your advisor and ask for a break anytime. I have taken a week off here and there but it has to be at the end of the class not during. Some even take a month. I looked at many programs and found that the price to attend is not as expensive as I was told by others. The difference...You don't pay for books for each class. Your books are on line and you are charged a lab fee. It costs under 11K a year for everything. Remember..this is University price not Community College price.

I am soooooo frustrated with the UOW. I paid my 40.00 fee for them to evaluate my transcript and give me answers, but have gotten nothing but a hard time. No one will tell me anything. I was told until I get admitted they cannot tell me anything, but that is not what the website says about the 40.00. It is crazy and disjointed at the UOW. Admissions doesn't know what's going on in nursing. Nursing doesn't know what it going on over here. When I did finally get one person to answer 1 question her answer was wrong. My transcript is finally at the school and has been looked at and the nursing school still wont' talk to me until I "get my letter of admittance." Whatever!!!!!! I need to sign up for classes NOW n my town for some prereqs, not on their terms and I need to know what to take. They could tell me if they wanted to.

The UOW needs to get more faculty who are willing to help and that are there to serve the student's needs, not there own. I will not recommend this school if you don't have to go for the $ or other reasons.

If the way the have handled me thus far is any indication of the way their classes are going to be then there is going to be nothing but Hell.

Sorry for your troubles. Hope this situation gets better. How about sending a copy of your comment to them?

By the way, what does UOW stand for?

UOW is University of Wyoming.
The cheapest brick and mortar University with an on-line RN to BSN program that has been reported on here.
Sad to hear about the problems...sigh.

I attended Deaconess college of nursing and received my ADN form their. It was a very good program, although it was difficult. I am also currently looking at them for getting my BSN.

I have been looking at online schools and have narrowed it down to 3. FHCHS, Jacksonville U and Deaconess College of Nursing. I have seen some great things on here about FHCHS and it is the first school I checked into, but I'm not sure. I like that Jackonsville U offers classes in streaming video and in DVD format, but they require a lot more gen ed classes and I don't want to be doing this forever. DCN also requires more gen ed classes, but they seem more interesting and more useful to me as a nurse. I have seen a lot of not so good things about DCN on this site, but I think that has more to do with students that aren't already RNs. Does anyone have first hand experience with any of these schools and if so may I contact you and ask questions. Thank you in advance and it's nice to know that I'm not in this alone.
I attended Deaconess College of Nursing about 17 years ago and got my ADN, but I am now looking to go back for my BSN and it still remains one of my top choices. It is a good school, although hard. It is well worht it. I would like to know which one you choose.

Does anyone know about Texas Tech's RN to BSN program. I know it is online but after reading the catalog I cannot tell if there are campus visits required or much about the clinicals. I would appreciate any information .

I just finished the RN-BSN program at Texas Tech.2 semesters if full time.15 hrs each wich overlap. The only visit you make to the campus is after acceptance before the program starts. This is a 2 day event for orientation. The next time is only if you want to attend graduation. As for the clinicals, you get a preceptor who is baccalaurette prepared or higher, and then act as a guide. Was a good program.I really enjoyed it.
If you have any questions pm me.
