Does Wyoming require clinicals for the rn-bsn?

Any program for RN-BSN that don't require clinicals???

Hi niceguytx. Sorry no one has answered, it's a slow thread.

NLN approved programs require a "clinical" component. I go to Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences online program and it is NLN approved.

The clinicals are not what you think. Here's how we got ours: in Leadership we had to interview to nurse administrators. In community health, we had to two teaching projects - I tought a group of male friends in my home about prostate and other male health issues, and coworkers about the impaired nurse. Physical Assessment (a requirement in an NLN program) we had to do a head to toe assessment on a person that can not be a patient (I choose a friend) and have it witnessed by an mastered or above prepared nurse (no biggie where I work), plus we had to spend 8 hours with a NP or MD watching them do assessments.

Many of the clinical hours in online program are given through presenations. Such as in Pharmacology we did a presentation a week for five weeks. Basically I made a poster of various drugs and left it at work for people to look at. (We had to send in a picture).

wow what a thread! i have read every single post on all 37 pages and oh my GOD!.......lol this has been so helpful to me though. i am soooo tired after all this reading and it is waaaay past my bedtime but this was well worth my time!

so far here is what i got from ALL this....

U of P ~~NO WAY (i did go to the site provided on here by someone on page 32 of this thread and let me tell you from my mother in laws experience that is so true! she wont slam the school but she will agree that things are not as they are in other schools)

i also seemed to like u of wy ..... that seemed ok to me also.

taking a class online would be great for me when i finally do get a job. i have two kids and will be working soon so i dont want the long commute to the local schools i could get my BSN at. (i graduate in about 9 months with ADN)

does anyone who has attended the two schools i have listed have anything negative to say about them? it will still be a while before i can attend them but i would like to walk into the situation prepared and ready to go!

Has anyone taken the Pathophysiology course( 300 level) through Excelsior College?

hey everyone. i am almost thru with univ of wyoming's program and it has been very decent. i have a few gen ed's left and one nursing class and my clinical. the clinical component is something u set up yourself following the guidelines the school sets out. most people use their local health dept...u are doing more administrative stuff versus hands on stuff. u write papers, etc on your experiences and of course someone agrees to be your preceptor and sign off on your hours there. it lasts the whole semester. good luck to u all!
