I am currently in their program. There's lots of papers, little tests, and some projects. There are some easy classes like "Concepts", Aging, Health & Wellnes, Statistic (yes, very easy) and some killer classes like Community Health, Research, Patho., Pharm. I noticed after Community Health several students burned out, took a break and are now back. The work full-time/school grind can be tough, but it's doable.

The classes are generally 7.5 weeks long. Not much of a break between classes unless you finish early. But the Xmas break is very nice and long.

So far I've taken 10 classes and am carrying a 4.0. I'm a fairly independent learner and go with the flow. There have been some whiners who aren't happy and complain about every little thing. My experience has been very positive and I recommend it. Feel free to ask specific questions.

Does anybody have experience with Texas Tech RN-BSN program? I'm looking into that program and Wyoming but my problem with Wyoming right now is that they want me to re-take too many classes and with Texas Tech all I'll have to take is two US History classes and the nursing classes. I would appreciate any imput.

I might had that Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences is a Christian college and as such incorporates that a little bit in their philosphy. Not a big deal as the classes are NLN approved. Also there are some co-req classes required that I didn't have like "Lessons in Living" which is study of the Old and New Testiment (almost all Christian schools have this requirement), "World Religions", Western Civilization", "Health and Wellness" and a sociology class "Aging in Society", "Chemistry", "Statistics" so it might be a little longer is one does not have similar courses already that can transfer. But they teach them online as part of their program and the are not "pre-reqs" but "co-reqs" you take along side the nursing courses and the Chemistry does not have lab.

I am enrolled in their RN to BSN program, too. I really enjoy it. It was the only program that had the co-requisite courses online right at their school, and is affordable. I was very impressed with the advisors from the school. Univ. of Phoenix is a good school, too. I just thought their prices were high.
LAnette, check out the website: www.fhchs.edu

PM me if you have any questions.

Thank you Tweety and Nicole for your information. I think I have pretty much decided on this program. I especially like it that it is Christian based! I am waiting a return call from them, was told that the FAFSA deadline was July 3rd so am not sure if I will have to wait until the spring semester or not, hope not. About how many times and how long each day are you required to be online? Thanks again, Teri

Hey LTNurse,

I think I remember hearing that Texas Tech has a good solid program. I wish you luck in whatever program you choose and I am sure you will do well wherever you go!

You get to pick a chat time for each class. There are usually different times (5 or so to choose from ), a mix of days, evenings and nights. Then, you log on at that specific one hour period once a week and have "chat" with the instructor and classmates. You get a grade on your participation. You have to check the "student lounge" a couple times a week and submit your papers/assignments a couple times a week. There is a known deadline and you submit them whenever you want by the deadline. The quiz/test has to be taken by a deadline too, all online.

I'm glad you are interested. Don't let the financial aid process tick you off. It's tedious and time consuming. Submit everything ASAP. You only have to submit the info by the deadline, not have your financial aid package done by then.

Hope this helps!

Horray! Another newbie!

As Nicole said you are only "required" to be online live during a one hour chat session weekly. The rest of the time you're on your own submitting assignments as they are due.

I work three 12 hour shifts a week, so I'm not doing school on those days at all. The time spent on the courses really depends on the class. For "Research" I was online more than I was for "Western Civ." and more for Community Health than for Statistics.

Online schooling rocks.

Good luck to you. Please ask any questions big or small and we're glad to help.

Thanks , this program sounds great to me! Only one problem I have emailed an adviser and left a couple messages on her voice mail and still no reponse back. Do you have a name and # of someone that you recommend I talk to? Would love to get things started ASAP . Thanks a mill!
