I just don't feel like I can put myself through that again. It made me doubt myself-and I don't like feeling like that. I'm looking into LPN to BSN programs now. Maybe I'll change my mind....but I don't think so.

Honey, take a workshop - Lunah knows some good ones - and give it another shot.

You. can. do. this.

Lisashee,

Cry today, feel sorry for yourself tomorrow, eat a quart of Ben & Jerry's, wash down with a good Merlot then:

WORKSHOPS
Lynn Frederick's www.clinicalprepexam.com. I am taking this one in Charlotte on August 14, 15, 16
Tina's workshop www.necpne.com is in Wilkes-Barre, PA

Robs CPNE DVD can't find address right now but check LUNAH's posts, you'll find it there or just google it. Worth the $40.00

Check on this site for CPNE journals that folks have been kind enough to post; LUNAH and IVAN have great ones.

You can do this. Look at this inital failure as practice!!!!

Enjoy that Ice Cream!!

I agree with the others here- go ahead and take a workshop. It'll cost you a lot less time & money than starting all over again in a trad program. Come here often for support from the other current/former students. If you can pinpoint what it was that caused you to fail, that's a good place to start. Was it clinical performance, or documenting? Where do you think you need more info?

I know that if I had failed my CPNE, I would have seriously considered not trying again ... but being a Paramedic, I didn't have another route to that RN that wouldn't involve me starting from total scratch -- there aren't any P-to-RN programs in my area.

When I failed what should have been my last PCS for a silly error (failing to ID the patient, whoops), I paced hallways for about two hours while waiting for my next PCS, and during that time, I made a deal with myself (probably talking out loud, I'm sure I looked like a crazy person, LOL) that if I failed, I would try again. Thank goodness that wasn't necessary in the end, but it was important to give myself permission to not succeed, in a way, but to also to promise myself that I wouldn't give up my goal of being an RN.

The CPNE definitely takes people outside their comfort zone, which is really unsettling, I know. *hugs* Take some time for yourself, then take a deep breath and decide if you really want to start all over, or take a chance (it's an expensive chance, I know!) that you could reach your goal in a 2.5-day exam. And we'll be here for you either way!

Honey, I have never been through anything this stressful in my life, except perhaps a couple of awful life events.

I came back and have now passed everything and haven't passed a single PCS. One adult to go and I'm a GN.

Don't. give. up. And this is from someone who fialed it.
