Question for Excelcior nursing students/grads

I'm currently taking a break from my LPN program b/c of family issues and won't be going back until September...So that gives me a few months with not much to do and I was hoping to get as many of my gen-eds out of the way as possible, since I'm planning on bridging through EC.

I'm just not sure if I should take the gen-eds at CC, or if I'm supposed to take them through EC? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I couldn't make sense of the website!

ETA-also, would I need to take A&P I and II to fufill their gen-ed requirements, or just A&P I?

You'll need both A&P I and II. I recommend getting your gen eds done at a community college or by CLEP exam -- EC is more expensive for general ed stuff.

Lunah is 100% correct. Clep out if you can or take those classes at your CC.

Just make sure you get advisor approval for all courses.

Thanks for the info…I gotta say, this board has been a godsend! I’ve spent the past week trying to figure out the bridge-programs in my state and becoming depressed over the thought of spending another 3 years of my life in nsg. School…academically I have no problem but dealing with all of the other B.S. that comes along with it has been a nightmare! I would have never even thought about doing it this way before I came here...this is awesome

I have another question...I have been given the option of either starting my LPN program again in March or going back in September. Would it make more sense for me to:
a. Take a full course-load over the next 2 semesters at CC and get most of my gen-eds out of the way, then go back to my LPN program in September or
b. Go back in March, and worry about all the gen-eds after I graduate

I really want to get my RN as soon as possible and I’m pretty much sold on doing EC, so which seems like the better option time-wise?

Any particular reason? I'm just thinking that the next 5 months are going to be time wasted if I go back in March-I'm not going to be able to take any CC classes since I would be going back to my LPN program in the middle of the semester. Or am I approaching this the wrong way?

The license is king is the reason. Get that first. You can do the pre-reqs on-line.

This is the way to go. Get the LPN license, because you can't go to the EC program until you have the license. And you can take as many of the gen ed/prereqs online as you can handle while you are in LPN school. There have been others who have taken their gen ed/prereqs for RN school while they are in LPN school. Up to you, how much you can handle at one time, as long as you are motivated.

OK thanks...Good to know that doing pre-reqs while in LPN school is do-able. I really think I can do it, I was at the top of my class when I left and I'm very motivated-but everyone around me is trying to convince me that it's ia crazy idea.
