Re: PASSING THE CPNE: tips from my experience
When I began my studies for RN, I went through Rue. They provide a diirected study system where you don;t have to guess what to study.
I did well with that. When I decided I should not have to pay them and also Excelsior College, I only had Excelsior Study Guides to work from.
Although the study guides are useful, they do not key in on everything.
The tests were more difficult, but I managed. There was always questions related to lab results, disease symptoms and management; plus the tests were very broad. I didn't like it, because unlike LPN school, you did not have just one subject, say disease process and related drugs; the range of material was extensive, so one never knew exactly what to study. Looking
back, I wonder how I did pass tests with no instructor, or ANY outside help.
This in itself takes knowledge and motivation, so I question all of the people
who say the Excelsior program is inadequate. My learning has been more
difficult, and because of this, I can say yes I have worked harder to achieve what I have because I have had no help what soever. At the same time, I have worked as a nurse while studying, plus take care of a family.
The effort one puts into something should be appreciated. Daun
