National American University

I am doing my prerequisites at NAU but finding it difficult and frustrating to actually get into the clinical core. They've changed their story about what classes transferred in from my BA even while pressuring me to take classes for a BSN to fill the quarters while waiting to get into the clinical core. Is this how most schools operate?

More so with proprietary schools than public ones. Usually a ploy to extend your school experience and increase their tuition and fee extraction from you.

I have a story about NAU.....

A couple of years ago they advertised for a RN program & I decided to call & over the phone asked them several normal questions and asked if they actually had the ADN program(b/c I had never heard of them or their nursing program) Well I decided to go meet with their admission/sales rep

It was then that I realized it was NOT what I was told over the phone. When I started to ask her to explain to me their nursing program(pre reqs/waitlist/ect) she really didn't have any answers or even paperwork from it and keep talking about the health management degree even telling me I would make more $$ and it was a better career. I keep asking questions but then quickly realized she didn't have any when I tried to leave she told me to just TALK to fincianial aid department and it was there when I asked them again about the nursing program they told me that 'it was in the works' but it would be smart for me to just start taking classes so I could be 1st in line!

Well I decided to NOT go with them b/c it just felt wrong.

Well 3yrs later I saw a ad on TV for their ADN program that they just are starting! So for kicks I called them to ask about it and I was told they hadn't even graduated a class and were just starting. When I told him I had called several years ago and they told me they then had a prgoram he told me they wre just feeling people out to gage interset!

Well if I would of started with them 3yrs ago I would of been pretty much screwed not only with classes but $$$(they by no means cheap) I would of not been working towards my ADN at all even more so because when I asked about classes he told me that they were NEW requirments & told me about some very confusing point system that really didnt make any sense at all....it almost seemed like something to confuse people(also I was told it had recently changed from a student that does go there and now has to complete 3 extra classes)

I would run not walk away of all the trade type schools they seem like one of the dirter ones

Yikes! Now I'm worried. I've heard the story about constantly changing prerequisite requirements from several people. I'm not sure there is anywhere I can transfer to but I'm certainly going to be looking.

Do a search on the Kansas board of nursing site/maybe Missouri too under education for nursing programs. If you want to stick with a private/tech type school there is probably others out there that also include the pre-reqs.

Let me see if I can do a search

Here you go I would call everyone if you have too and ask how long/if any wait list and see what they say

It takes some leg work but I did that here in Colorado and got pleasantly surprised!
