Lpn to Rn lets stay motived!!

Hello I'm new to this online community for nurses. I'm currenty studying for my RN using TCN materials. I've already taken 4 test but I had stoppeed studing back in Feb-March of this year. I have recently started back studing this month, plus I dont want to be wasting all that money for nothing. I must stay motived, I'm a single parent of a 6 year, I work first shift and can study at night when he's settled and in the bed. Really there's no excuss for stopping again. Going on campus isnt a opption for me this is a great way for me to reach my goal. Is there anyone else like me that needs alittle help staying movited? and what your you currenty studying? My next text will be introduction to computing, I plan on testing on it by the end of the month.
When I'm complete with my preq. I will be applying to Indaina State University's RN BSN program.

Crystal

yes, I need motivation. I took my last test in june and am just now taking my next test oct. 26...i too have a child. so she gets most my time. but I am lucky to be able to study at work. I'm a home health lpn. I work at nite so my pt is asleep usually. I have a friend in the lpn-rn program with me too so that does help. we motivate each other. I'm going to start scheduling my tests then studying my behind off to meet the deadline!! that way I can't put it off.

I need all the help I can get! I've taken my 1st test with Excelsior, but I really want to be finished with the nursing portion by February at the latest, which means I need to get a move on! I may try to take the Chronicity test on Thursday, just depends on how much I get done these next couple of days. Hotnurse, are you going for ISU or Excelsior? Either way, c'mon guys! We made it thru LPN school, we have families and jobs, we can definitely do this!

Hey guys!!! Yes I agree with you hotnurse if you go ahead an schd. the test, then that means you have a deadline. Jules that's great!! You are almost at the end. You can do it! I studied 3-4hours( with a 30 min break in between) lastnight. This time I mean bussiness buddy. I just found out this weekend that GA BON is now excepting Excelsior grads. Of course with some added requirments like 350 perceptor hours before you can sit for your boards. So needless to say thats the route I'm going. I have a test next Thursday. Jules what do you think about Excelsior and how long has it taken you with preqs and nursing classes all together?

When they did my eval in August, all I had to complete was 7 nursing modules, info lit, anatomy/physiology, & microbiology. I'm trying to get all of my nursing modules done ASAP, then I'll focus on CPNE/gen eds after that. I signed up during the "promo" pricing, so I have 1 year to finish it all before I incur a $1440 charge for year 2...so that's a lot of motivation! I'm hoping to have the nursing classes done by Jan/Feb and CPNE by May or so. I am ALWAYS looking for people that are motivated to complete to keep me going--if I feel like someone else is counting on me, I am WAY more accountable to this stuff! It says on the website that the program is designed to be completed in 18-24 months, but I figure with a little focus, 10-12 months should be completely doable.

Hey Jules you just dont know how much you are inspiring me with the goals you have set for yourself. I just sat down and did a sort of rough draft of how I plan on testing and how long it may take me to study per coarse. I'm confident I will have everything completed and really to do the CPNE by July 2011. If you dont mind me asking why are you taking your nursing classes before finishing your gen ed?

You are CPNE eligible when you are done with the nursing stuff and are within 10 credits of finishing the gene eds...so, I figured if I was going to have too long a wait for the CPNE, I could be using that time to finish up those last couple of classes/study for "the Beast"...and if CPNE comes before I'm done with those, at least that's all I'll have left to do before NCLEX...in my mind, it all works out just so and I have an RN license by August of 2010...if it doesn't, well, at least I'll give it my best shot, and take whatever comes!
