ISU and TCN?

by debrho

Good Evening, how are you all this evening?
I bought all The College Network text books about 4 years ago on the understanding of doing my RN through Excelsiors. Since then I have learned that the state of Virginia does not except Excelsior Colleges' clinical requirements. Well, needless to say I was so mad as I had committed $6,000 plus to TCN.

I am now reading that Indiana State University is now offering an LPN to BSN program and from what I am understanding I could use my highly expensive TCN workbooks to pursue this degree? If this is so, or anyone has more information to give, I would so appreciate it. I had thought I had wasted all this money, but maybe now there is some use for these workbooks.

Please any help or advice is appreciated. I need to get my RN and if I can use these workbooks so much the better.

Thank fellow LPN to RN students.

There was another student on this forum who recently switched from ISU to EC while under contract with TCN, so I don't see why you couldn't do the same, but in reverse -- go from EC to ISU.

Virginia will allow EC RNs to endorse in with 960 hours of work as an RN in another location. But as far as I know, ISU grads are eligible for direct licensure by exam in Virginia. I'm in Virginia myself, but I finished last year, before Virginia changed the laws.

If I were you, I'd call TCN and see if you can switch your contract from EC to ISU; the modules will be different, so you'll need different study guides. (Honestly, first I'd see if they'd let you out of your contract since Virginia isn't an option for EC students unless they finish before 12/31/09, but I doubt TCN will be so forgiving! )

Good luck, and let us know what happens!

thanks for that advice..I have called them already and of course they will not let me out of the contract. Any future students do not sign up with these people..you dont need them and they will take every last penny you have, with nothing in return.
Thanks and good luck with your RN.
