Wow! You are almost there!
Well....long way to go for me. It will take me about 3 years if it goes smoothly....and it will cost me about $24,000.00. I think it is reasonable compare to west cost college (in West Los Angeles) which they charge $55,000.00.

I am excited!!

I was highly interested in this program because I just finished PN school and have a BA in another field. However, ISU is not approved in NY or TX, which is where I am heading. UGH!!!!!!

Best of luck to all those going through the program though. I think Distance Learning is GREAT!!!

I think now I'm leaning towards Indiana State University LVN-BSN since I have most of my prerequisites finished. I already hold a Bachelors in another field and although I would like an ADN program, I just don't want to wait that extra year to receive my RN after graduating.

I have a few questions regarding Indiana State University. If someone who's currently attending can help me with. You can either email or reply here in the forum. I know it's via distance education

1. Do they accept for summer?

2. Do you take classes in the summer?

3. How is the curriculum? Do you have to follow the curriculum or can
you take as many classes as you'd like? Full time or part time?

4. Can you take classes and finish them as long or as short as you
want?

5. Anybody complete the program who already holds a Bachelors? If
so, how long did it take you to just do the nursing component?

6. Regarding clinicals, do you have to find your own preceptor? How often are you required to
attend clinicals?

Thank you in advance!

You have Excelsior, I'd love to do Excelsior but Cali doesn't accept it. Let us know which school you end up attending.

Yes Latina, we wrote about this a few months back. I'm thinking either EC or a traditional ADN, 1 year program. The BSN programs are outrageous in NY!!!

Texas does not "approve" any out of state school including EC but you can still get a TX license you just take NCLEX for another state then get endorsement into TX

Ganurse, I'm not sure I understand your post. I live in NY and ISU is not approved here. Can I get a clinical site here or in TX? I am assuming the answer is no.Texas approves EC. They have 2 EC sites there.

ISU isn't like EC they don't have set clinical sites...you are responsible for arranging a preceptor....you submit the information to them and then they begin the process if there is not a hospital close to you that has a clinical agreement. ISU isn't "approved" by GA but it is recognized. There are several established sites here in GA. If you go to ISU's website to clinical logistics you will see that they already have contracts with several hospitals in both NY and TX for clinicals.

Yes GA that I did know. I saw a list here posting states that approved ISU and neither NY or Tx were on the list. So what exactly does that mean then?

Hi LatinaVN
ISU's program doesn't accept for summer and there aren't nursing classes in the summer. You take classes each semester and must meet prereq to take next nursing course. Can get permission to take more classes if you have met the prereq. You have to find preceptor for Health Assessment class in the first semester but after that you will let ISU know where you would like to do your clinical and give them a contact person and they set up the contract and preceptor. I am in CA and in the first semester and it's great not going to class everyday. Hope this helps if you haven't already found the answers to your questions.
