Stressed? Me? That is putting it mildly I took almost all of my prereq courses through Ivy Tech...to me it is much simpler to do it that way than trying to study for a test out or trying an impromtu speech...acckk. I was told that there are people who are taking 424 and 450 together this summer...I pity those poor soles. I have taken my prereqs along with my nuring courses but I think they are tightening up their retrictions and requring that prereqs be done first. I got a letter from my advisor saying that the only way to sign up for a nursing class was with her approval *after* she had reviewed your DARS to see if you had all of the prereqs to that class done. When I started, 3 years ago, we had a number to enter and just enrolled ourselves in the courses we wanted to take that semester. Chaxanmom is right....I may not be on here much until May....life is a bit crazy right now

I had a 4.0 when I applied to the program, I submitted my application with everything done but was just waiting on the results of that test (takes about 6 weeks). I talked to them and said I was pretty sure I was short on time and that test was the only thing holding me up. Dr. Miller said it was ok but that I needed to retake it ASAP when I got the results. Dantes makes you wait 6 months to retake so that was a factor too. It would have totally screwed me up otherwise. Having a 4.0 gives you a little bit of room for unforeseen things sometimes. It would be silly to have turned me away for that. That being said, they have tightened up a lot of things since I started the program.

Probably the reason you have to have it before is because you have presentations to make from the beginning of the program so its pretty relevant. The assessment class is one of the first and you have to videotape a head-to-toe assessment so I'm sure they prefer you have public speaking before that. Community health nursing has a videotaped teaching project as well.

I just have a little thought for everyone trying to hurry...
I really wanted to have all of my things ready for June 1st....including the 4 challenge tests and all my non-nursing classes and then I took the first challenge test. I barely paseed and I have been an LPN for 28 years! Do not rush...you must not try and breeze thru the most important classes of your degree. I have decided to wait until Nov. 1st and take my time. Not passing a challenge test means more waiting, more money and a little loss of self confidence I would imagine so I am going to take my time. Goals sometimes need to be re-evaluated and modified to fit better. I decided to slow down.
Good Luck to all!

Which challenge test did you take? Did you use the study guide? I read through each of them in about 2 weeks then took the tests so it can be done. I got A's except for the peds one. That one was HARD! All the developmental stuff was a mess!

I am trying to receive some info on ISU lpnto rn bsn program. I am taking my preq at a local college and I have speech ,micro ,chem ,Spanish 2, algebra left to take to gain admission to the local college but I am debating going online because I have to work mother of 3 with a military spouse who deploys a lot so I am trying to gain some info on how this program works for you all. It sounds exciting. I did receive some info but I want to receive the students views. My questions are how are the classes?, how is the teas exam admin for online students?, and is there an waiting list for acceptance.? I read something about being a potential waiting list for phase11? pls help. I do not want to apply and come against any hold ups. Also is the staff and instructors helpful and are the courses difficult? I know I have a bunch of questions but this is crucial for me. Oh (lol) How many times a year do they offer the start of programs?

Most of your answers (probably all) can be found in the ISU threads already in existence. However, I did want to mention that I'm a military spouse too. My husband is stationed in Phillie and I'm in Maryland so it's like having him deployed. I've been able to do it but I have reeeeeeeally amazing friends who help me with the kids when I have clinical days. I couldn't do it without them for sure!

Adnerbe its not that I am trying to hurry thru the program, I am trying to get all of my ducks in a row and this speech class was basically an oversight. Eventhough the csm's are thru college network I just completed the same ones thru excelsior college and I just chose to go thru ISU because of the changes that keep occurring in GA with the BON and excelsior. If I would have followed my first mind about this program I would be finishing up with chaxanmom by now I'm sure. So Im not rushing just making sure I get the chance to get started without having to wait any longer.

I don't think the post was directed at you. Brenda has been posting her progress all along and I think she was just adding her thoughts to that.

I know she wasn't directing it to me totally, I was just responding to her note.

Yep guys, I was just rambling my thoughts out loud. It is a totally different progression when you are working full-time and have kids even tho they are in college. I have found that 2 classes a semester are about max for me and that is why I don't want to have anything but nursing courses left when I start Phase 3.
Have a good day all.
