For those that are testing out of the four courses to gain entrance into the nursing program in August, I was wondering if you guys wanted to form a study group at? I think it will help knock off some of the edge and we can keep one another motivated.

Do not get confused when looking into these distance programs. Anything about Nursing Concepts 4 or 5 or 3, etc. is referencing the Excelsior College exams as they existed before Oct. 1 2007. Those tests have been renamed with slight changes, but they still go with the Excelsior College program. You need to go to the ISU LPN/LVN to BSN webpage and go onto the link that lists the nursing courses and entire curriculum for the ISU program; you will see that they are numbered and named differently. http://catalog.indstate.edu/preview_...atoid=5&poid=8

Hi, new to the forum. Has anyone passed the exams without the CSMs? I purchased all the books on ebay that were on the provided syllabuses. But im getting a bit scared to take the exams without the CSM. Anyone selling them? I have to pass!

hello all,

Chaxanmom can you tell me how were your last classes slated? For instance the lpn-bsn track brochure shows Nurs 324,424, and 450 in a row, is that how they must be taken (in order)? And do they allow you to take two courses that has a clinical component to it at the same time?

They do need to be taken in order but you have to take all your 300s before you can start 400s. Last semester I took 324, 318, and PE. This semester I'm taking 424, 450, and Comm 101 (you are supposed to take that before you are admitted to the program but I got an exception). Next semester I'm taking the last three courses: 470, 484 and whatever that other 400 level course is.

Yes you can do two with clinicals at the same time. ChelleLPN and I are taking 424 and 450 together. It's 180 hours plus 450 has a ridiculous amount of papers so plan on getting your butt kicked if you take them together. But it can be done. If you don't hear from ChelleLPN and I anymore after May it's because, well, we probably kicked over from stress or had a nervous breakdown. lol!

Dantes offers the equivalent but you have to do a 3-5 minute impromptu speech on whatever topic they give you and have 10 minutes to prepare. You speak it into a microphone and if you are even a second more or less than the time limits it's an automatic failure. WAY too much pressure for me. lol! I did it once, was short on time and failed it. So I'm taking it through Ivy Tech. It's actually pretty fun when you can prepare and choose the topic. We do videos and submit them through Google.

How did you get your exception? I wonder why they won't at least let us take the class in the summer semester.
