Indiana state /sonoma state clinicals?

Sonoma State does not plan or schedule your clinicals. You pay them your clinical fees only, otherwise this online program would not be allowed by the board. There is a liason for ISU distance education students. I am not sure if there is only one but I speak with (moderator edit of name) and she does her best to obtain a contract with a hospital near you. Since this program is new in CA, there is some difficulty getting sites for clinical. I had no problem with mental health however I was unable to get a clinical for med/surg until the end of the semester. I found my clinical site and it wasn't difficult when I called and spoke to the hospital educator. You may run into some issues with clinical but ISU and Millie do their best to help you. I am in my third semester and things have been bumpy but they have all worked out. I am certain that once this program has more students and recognition in CA these issues will disappear.

I have enjoyed ISU so far. I am in my 3rd semester. I chose this program because I was tired of waiting for a spot in the RN program, have to work fulltime, don't really like going to classes, it is cheaper than the state schools, and I my goal is to become a nurse practitioner. If you choose an online program you must be able to discipline yourself to complete your work and make time to study. I would recommend ISU but depends on what you are comfortable with.

How many credits a semester are you able to do working full-time?
I just applied and am waiting....I also have to work full-time.

This semester I am only taking 3 units but that is the only class I could take because you must complete all 300 level courses to move on to 400 level and was unable to take the class in summer school. It worked out ok since life happened over the summer. Last spring I took 15 units though and it worked out ok. I would not suggest so many units if you have a family and work full-time but that is up to you. I am single and no kids.
