I did work during that time, about 24 hrs a week in the hospital as a tech b/c my hospital doesn't hire LPN's anymore and
another 24-36 hrs a week doing peds home health as an LPN so there was time to study at the 2nd job.
I took the 1st practice exam to see what I needed to focus on, study those areas and review the content guide for the course, then take the 2nd exam like a few days before testing and ended up with all A's & B's.

I started November 2003 and finished February 2009! I took the NCLEX March 2009. I procrastinated a lot when I first started. I did the CPNE September 2008 and still had Micro and A&P to take. I used the recommended text, pre-owned study guides and whatever I could get free off the net.

I am confused about Excelsior. Can someone explain?? I have been an LPN 13 years and would like to get my RN. The waiting list is to long at my local college. Is Excelsior the best way to go? I don't understand what the istudy guides are? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to allnurses! I suggest you visit a couple of websites -- first, EC's website at http://www.excelsior.edu -- download the nursing catalog from their publications page. Also, this page: https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_...d_Requirements -- to make sure that EC's degree/RN is recognized by your state board of nursing.

Next, there is a helpful "sticky" at the top of this forum with a lot of information: http://allnurses.com/distance-learni...fo-385571.html

istudysmart is a publishing company, similar to The College Network (TCN), neither of which are required to do Excelsior's ADN program. They can potentially add thousands to the cost of a degree. Excelsior provides a list of textbooks and suggested reading for each exam in the ADN program, and there are less expensive study resources available.
