HELP MICRO (Angela J. Arndt)!?!?!

HI All I'm getting started on my next course (Microbiology). I want to be sure that I'll okay with studying a study guide on micro (study notes from Angela J. Arndt) that I bought about 2 yrs ago off of ebay. I have EC's micro content guide and Angela notes follow Excelsoir's guide to the T. Has anyone ever heard of her? Or used her notes to pass EC exams?

I plan on making flash cards from her notes, I think that will help me retain the info (its soooooo much to study)

Advice Please
Crystal

Hey! I bought the microbiology for dummies and it was much easier to understand than the excelsior/distance learning book. I just read that and made notes and I passed with a B. Havent heard of the Angela persons notes, but im sure if it covers the main micro information you will be ok! Make sure it covers all the important people involved with microbiology..... you will be asked about them and what they are known for.

Hey Nursesunshine25, yes she does cover that. Its in the beginning of her notes. I'm wondering should I mainly focus on diseases?

From what I remember you will need to really know about: diseases signs and symptoms (important) and how they are transmitted, the people in micro, fermentation (not alot of questions but know the main process), stains (my question on that were not to deep), know the domains of bacteria, fungi, protists, viruses, know the tempatures that certain microbes grow in. There is more I cant remember all of it. I took my exam early this year and its hard for me to remember all the info. Hope some of this helps.
Here is a website I used to practice: http://microbiology.jbpub.com/microbes. Very helpful!

I have to say, I did the idiot's guide to micro, micro demystified, cliff note micro, and the text book. Read the text once, and the other books at least twice. Then used the text as reference for any more in depth questions I had.

Took it Oct. 21 and got an A

Hey Jlrevis sounds like a good idea. I'm just starting on micro but my goal is to test on it aound the 2nd week in Dec.

Rttobern how do you take it all in when you studied from so many diffrent sources? Did you focus on one more than the others? And how long did you study for the test?

It was actually pretty easy. They all follow the same format, but in different levels of difficulty. The text is very scientific and dry. "demystified" and "idiots guide" were so much easier to read. Almost like interpretations of the text. And the cliff notes actually is the EC study guide without ANY filler.

And I was able to skip the chemistry portion of all the books, because it's not part of the EC exam.
