Help Excelsior or Traditional Classes My delima needed advice!!!!!

Updated Oct 30, 2009 at 08:49 PM by williamsa

Hello all, I am a new nurse who graduated in June, got my license in September, and got a job in October. I am blessed I must say. During this time period I have been taking traditional classes but have run into a lot of problems like realizing there is not enough time in the day to do all this stuff. I have a scholarship up until I get my bachelors which is great. I receive financial aid which I pocket since my scholarship pays for tuition but not books which is minor. I was suppose to meet with an advisor from college network but it just seemed so shady. I have a friend who goes through them she said she likes it, but she has already completed all of the pre-rec's. I've been reading some of the posts and how expensive it is. I have began working and have never really had to pay out of pocket for school period. While in LPN school I never paid for anything not even my skid resistant closed toed nursing shoes, which were white of course. I don't know what to do. I have only completed like two out of the million of the prerequisites that must be taken. I was wondering what I should do? I was thinking I could get my RN than go on to get my BSN through a university and take traditional classes. Does any of the pre-rec's transfer from excelsior if i decided to stop after the completion of those. What would you do? How long does it take for the pre-rec's until you start with the actual nursing courses. I have children a job and my husband may be on disability for some recent medical conditions that restricts him from his profession. I am still enrolled in the remaining two classes that I did not drop. The semester ends in December I don't have much longer. I think I am going to call Excelsior again and try to hear them out this time. In the mean time any advice? All is welcomed and appreciated. I thank you for reading and replying to this long winded post.
