Default Georgia Excelsior Students, Grads, RNs, etc...
Please attend the upcoming Georgia Board meeting in Macon. The exact date and time that the Excelsior/GaBON issue is being presented has not been provided. At this point I would definitely not depend on Excelsior to provide that info. However, the dates of the meeting are Sept. 17-19th.

I personally have spoken with quite a few current students and recent grads that plan to attend IN SUPPORT OF OURSELVES as knowledgeable, competent, safe practicing nurses.

See you there.

Is there a way to find out through the BON how many EC nurses are practicing in GA? It would be interesting to see the numbers, and where they work...maybe patients should be informed too...we wouldn't want sub-standard care now would we...
Okay, I originally was not going to stoop to the level of this poster, but.....what a typically uninformed response against EC nurses. I completed EC with more clinical training behind my belt than the majority of traditional nursing school graduates could ever hope to have, thank you very much. I passed the NCLEX the first time. Not to toot my own horn, but I am an ABOVE-STANDARD nurse, I work hard at what I do and I feel that my peers respect and look up to me as an example. I can tell you that I have worked with many new graduate nurses who completed traditional nursing school who are absolutely clueless, have no clinical skills whatsoever and I have no idea how they managed to pass the NCLEX because they cannot even accomplish simple tasks they are assigned to them. I have absolutely NO problem with the BON knowing who I am and where I work, and I happen to work with other EC graduates on a daily basis that are above average nurses. I can tell by your childish posting that you were just trying to push buttons and inflame EC graduates, well, okay, you did a good job. I will stop my vent now, and I can see where this thread is heading, I'm sure the moderators will eventually step in.

Much love to my fellow EC graduates and students, good luck on your quest to take the NCLEX. I will always stand behind you 100%!

I think (hope!) Ronnie22 was being facetious. (Or maybe he's a member of the GA BON ). But thank you MandaSue for expressing how I think most of us are feeling right now. How dare they completely dismiss my LPN training, clinicals and work experience as meaningless and inadequate! I keep thinking of my EC study buddy, an LPN who has worked L&D for six years and scrubs in on c-sections, having to possibly spend more time and $$$ to sit in on 30 hours of mat/child clinicals. What a crock!

Same here ... when I first read his post, I was like, GRRRRR. LOL. Then I said hey, wait ... I remember interacting with him here, and isn't he an EC student? The internet is such an imperfect communication medium ...

I contacted the Governors office as he is the one that appointed him. I let him know that his appointed board was responsible for halting the careet paths of hundreds of voters and taxpayers. In addition I let him know that those hundreds or thousands would be happy to hold him and his politcal party accountable during the next election.

I will be in Macon. My employer, a state agency, is furious with the discision and have told me I would attend whether I was planning on going or not.

I SPOKE WITH GBON AGAIN AND ASKED IF I AM A RN IN ANOTHER STATE AND WORKING CLINCAL HOURS, I STILL CAN NOT GET ENDORSEMENT BECAUSE I WENT THROUGH EC? YES WAS THE ANSWER, THEN I ASKED SO EVEN IF I HAVE HAD MY RN FOR A WHILE ,OF COURSE WORKING, I STILL CAN NOT DO IT? YES THAT IS CORRECT, YOU KNOW WHAT EVERYBODY, I AM TIRED OF GEORGIA ANYWAY WITH THERE STUPID LAWS. ALOT OF TIMES IT IS WHO YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU KNOW FOR A JOB I RATHER WORK OUT OF STATE I WAS TOLD THAT AS LONG AS YOU ARE A LPN YOU CAN SIT FOR FLORIDA BOARDS WITH NO PROBLEM INFO FROM FBON. AND YOU MAKE MORE. GEORGIA WILL LOOSE A LOT OF GOOD NURSES IF THIS STAND WITH NO RESOLUTION

Posters on EC's EPN have brought up that this new law means that foreign educated nurses now have a much smoother path to licensure in GA than those of us who have gone to school, worked hard, been consumers and paid taxes right here in GA and the US. Might be a good point to work into your letters (in a tactful way of course!)

I live in NY where EC is and I must say that I'm so sorry to hear of this. I feel for all the nurses who are going through EC and can't get licensed there. I hope and pray things work out for you all. Is moving out of GA the only option at this point?
