FYI - when you register for the nursing exams online, it takes 2 business days before you can schedule it with the testing center. My 2 business days are up tomorrow, and I hope the testing center can take me on Saturday morning.

Take the Excelsior Practice Exams....can't stress that enough...questions are just like the ones on exam....study the rationales very thouroughly....you cant print it out or take notes on it but you can log on and read your answers anytime.....also the study guides on e-bay are great....just go to e bay and type in excelsior college and they all pop up....3 main companies...Rue, Chancellors and College Network.....I am using College Network Guides and doing wonderfully....C on NC1, A on NC2, 3 and 7...studying for 6 now then 4 and 5....its doable.......must be disciplined. Good luck

I just found out that Professional development systems doesn't seem to be around anymore. When I paid, it included the CPNE workshop through them but now I guess I'm outta luck.

Excelsior provides study guides free of charge for the tests. If you review the study guides, you will notice that each area on the test follows the nursing process. So, if for instance, you are studying nutrition for an area of the test, you need to know how to apply that knowledge of fats, carbs, protein, vitamins etc to assessing the pt's nutritional needs, planning for the pt's nutritional needs, interventions you would perform to treat that pt's nutritional needs, goals and evaluations of what you have done. This is not a test that is just fact related. Many times, all of the answers are correct, but you must prioritize---which one is the priority. A lot of the questions have the word EXCEPT. The practice tests can show you what area you are weak. You must pass all sections of the test to pass.

Get a really good NCLEX study guide to study along with the Excelsior study guides and your nursing books. My favorite is Saunders.
