Excelsior... Health Diff. 2 aka, NC 5

I am absolutely frustrated with Life Span Health Diff. 2!
I need some advice! HELP!
I have been studying for three weeks and only made a 42% and 55% on the practice exams! I can't seem to comprehend any of this material. I am very overwhelmed.
Do you think it's a good idea to put this one down and move on to Health Diff. 3?
These are my last two with the exception of FCCA and CPNE.
I have done flashcards, I have purchased the recommended books, took my own notes and I still cant obtain this much information!

Lisa

Someone sent me some awesome notes on the yahoo forums...I wish I still had them. I also used SG101. What all are you using to study ? Best of luck to you. You can do this! Take care, Traci

I feel your pain. Took LifeSpan #2 for the second time and went from an F (53%) to a D (61%). (At least there is some progress ) I have done the Excelsior practice exams, study group 101, L Arends, Minney's and the crappy College Network book and I still suck!!!!
I do not see where the questions asked on the exam are presented like the outline and the material. I wonder if the Excelsior people even look at the format the exam questions are presented in. This is my last exam before FCCA & CPNE and I just cannot find the right way to study for this one. The way the test questions are set up just do not jive with my brain. I am really off the beat with this exam. I have been down the defeated path in the past and need to get a new way of decode the material for LS #2.
Now I have to wait 120 days and decifer Psych and Endocrine on my own. I some people out there have passed on first time and even got A's. I need to find my groove in the next 120 days . Anyone in New Orleans LA area to study buddy with????????????

My suggestion to you is to go to Life Span 3 & Transitions, I go B's on both of them.

Sorry you did not pass. I hope you pass the next time you take it.

I am still new with Excelsior so I still do not know how to study for these exams. I did not see in your post whether you used the actual recommended books to study? If not, is it possible for you to obtain the books and study from them instead of outside sources? That's what I would do if I were in your situation. Actually, that's what I'm doing now with Lifespan 1. I'm reading the med-surg book and typing notes then I will read and read from that typed notes until it sinks in.

Anyway, good luck to you both with Lifespan 2.

Have you ever heard of flashcards on the internet? I tried it for lifespan 2 and i passed last month. Sometimes it is so much material you can study till it seems like it all runs together. You can do this. You will do it. You have come too far.

I too am taking LS#2 for the third time this Wed. and do not feel I am getting it! This is my last test. If you contact the dean of Excelsior, she can reduce your wait time to retest. That is what I did.

Keep studying until you feel your ready. I also failed this test the first time. If you think your ready before 120. EC will let you take it sooner. Definitions, Signs and symptoms, nursing interventions are the key this exam. Good Luck to you!

I didn't feel the test was that hard but for some reason I failed it. IMO I think they wanted you to score higher in each section than all the regular test. Its like they up the passing score on purpose. Like I said IMO.
