H1N1 vaccine... why it should be MY choice!

Nurses COVID

Published

This young lady become disabled 10 days after receiving the H1N1 vaccine. I'm not saying it was caused but the vaccine, but I am saying that this is a good reason why it should be each nurse's choice if we get the vaccine, not managements! Of course the media are going to highlight the "1 in a million" stories like this, but it just proves that my body does not belong to management and I should control what is pumped into it! I'm not exactly tech savvy, so let's see if this link works... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mScGC7nFDxM

I'd like to see hospitals make flu vaccinations mandatory for doctors???????? LOL Yeah right! That would never happen!

i have heard from relatives of mine who are RN's at Albany Medical Center in NY are being forced to take the H1N1 flu shot... my hospital has not even mentioned the RN's getting it.... At Albany Medical Center you either take the shot or you are fired... scary eh?

I believe doctors are covered under the NYS mandate. I know my hospital is requiring it for them.

That's a state mandate, not a local one.

If it is mandatory for nurses then it should absolutely be mandatory for the Doctors. Those 2 groups are the main people interacting with patients.....

I am a NS - 47 yo. I was required by NS to get the seasonal flu shot by xyz date. Period. We had to prove we got it - no ifs ands or buts.

Well, I got my very first seasonal flu shot at 4:46 pm after I got off work. I then got in my vehicle to get to my daughter's school and pick her up. 15 min later....I had NO strength or fine motor skills in the arm I got the shot in. I had pain from C2 through T4 towards that shoulder radiated around the deltoid down the bicep/tricep with numbness below the elbow. I was in tears by the time I got to my daughter's school! Thank God she is 16. I had her drive us home. Called my mom (35 yr RN - retired), "Mom! Is it supposed to hurt this MUCH?!?"

In the end, I took some ibuprofen and an ambien. By morning I was back to normal.

Not sure how excited I will be to get another flu shot!

That is heart breaking. I wonder if that was the first time she had ever received a seasonal flu shot. Anybody know?

I read somewhere that she had it in '07 and '08.

NOONE is being "FORCED" to take any vaccine.

Employers are well within their rights to mandate vaccination for their staff - and employees are well within their rights to not work there. Employers also dictate that you can't have green hair or 15 earrings in each ear, or that you have to have annual TB tests. If you don't like it, get another job.

When I hear about someone being held down and injected, I'll be happy to discuss "FORCED" vaccination.

^^^^^^^ :nono::down:

Not forced...just lose your livelihood.

So what's next? "Do it or lose it" abortions for nurses who become pregnant when a hospital is short staffed? After all, if they don't like it, they can get a job someplace else, right?

An extreme example (maybe?) but one's apparent desire to put one's body at the mercy of one's employer requires nothing less.

Green hair, 15 earrings, and TB tests are much different than fast-tracked vaccines. You're comparing apples and oranges.

I suppose one would toss a patient out in the street if he refused to submit to the vaccine as well?
