1Jan 3, '13 by olddraggerThere are solid religious reasons that apply for some. Diversity doesnt just apply to patients. Please look up some of the religions that are agaisnt vaccinations and their reasons why before you fully form your opinion.
Wouldn't you respect a Jehovah Witness refusal for blood? Same principle.
Also please research as to how "protected" a person is after they have received the flu shot. You may be surprised.
To clarify--i am not antivaccination, i do believe the influenza vaccination has a use. but, I am agaisnt mandatory vaccinations for hcw's

Ridiculous! My health systen went the mandatory flu route. Those who submit exemption under religous objection must submit letter from their minister + be reviewed/approved by HR.
0Jan 7, '13 by Masked ManWhere's the data to support mask use to prevent spread of flu FROM the wearer...which is the intent here? Evidence-based medicine is great until it comes to politics and policy.
0Jan 8, '13 by msn10I get sick from the shot - no I don't mean I get the flu, but I get very ill. Since we are all nurses here I can say this without grossing anyone out but I had the flu shot 3 years in a row and all 3 times (within 24 hours after the shot) I had N&V and the last time I had the worst diarrhea of my life. However, I am not technically 'allergic' to the vaccine as that would be a histamine reaction. How do I prove that the vaccine makes me ill and I am scared to take it again? A doctor's note? Wouldn't everyone who doesn't want one just tell their doc that the shot makes them sick? I don't mind vaccines, but making something mandatory makes me very uncomfortable and it is a slippery slope.
