OnFriday, October 18th, 2014. President Obama has appointed an Ebola czar by the name of Ron Klain. This individual has NO MEDICAL EXPERIENCE. However, he is a Washington insider (for whatever that means). Why could the President not bother to look for a nurse or doctor with management experience. I know it is a little to soon to be this judgmental, but we are fighting for our lives.

I think "fighting for our lives" is a little melodramatic ...

Why hire a doctor when you can get a lawyer?????

African standards are now higher than they are in the US of A. Awesome.

A little, but there is no cure for this disease.

While it's true there are already many doctors involved (and not doing the best job, to put it mildly), I think choosing a lawyer was a bad move. Time will tell, but people generally don't trust lawyers, so I'm not sure this will do much to calm the panic or solve the problem. But we'll see...

A Surgeon General may have been useful.

Yes, it would be nice if we had a Surgeon General these days, but that position requires congressional approval and the Republicans are unwilling to approve anyone (as part of their ongoing campaign to thwart Obama at every turn).

Seriously??

Seriously??

Yes, seriously. You're free to have a different view of the situation ...

When someone explained that he was an "implementer" not a doctor, I understood more why he was chosen. If he really is good at getting stuff done effectively and efficiently, I will withhold my judgement until we see him in action.

As a float nurse, I see breakdowns in communication all the time. One unit will relate a patient safety issue and implement a new procedure, but when I go to a different unit, they are still doing things the old way because they never heard of the issue in the other unit. And this is in a 300-bed hospital where everyone knows everyone.

Just because someone has medical or nursing knowledge does not mean they can design, create, and implement processes effectively and efficiently.

Really good at getting stuff done? Waiting to see him in action? You have got to be kidding! He has already been in action, including:

-He was the "mastermind" of all the litigation around the Florida recounts in the 2000 Presidential election. Litigation that never stood a chance as the Republican controlled legislature could legally appoint the electors regardless of the popular vote, which was deemed legit anyway.

-He was the chief counsel of the Senate Judiciary Committee when they went after Clarence Thomas.

-Mr Klein's role in the Solyndra ordeal: White House Brushed Off Solyndra Worries, Emails Show - WSJ

-He has been a lobbyist for Fannie Mae.

He has missed two meetings already. Evidently, he took the weekend off and will begin this week.

He is a radical leftist. I would have to think there are other people who have much more experience "getting stuff done", who are much less partisan.

To top it all off, he is going to report to Susan Rice. You know, the one who made the rounds on TV telling the country how the Benghazi attack was the result of a YouTube video.

Don't count me among those who now feel better about our country's leadership in handling the Ebola crisis.

Time may prove me wrong about his effectiveness, but the main point of my argument was that I'm unconcerned that he is not a medical professional. Medical professionals don't always make the best implementers.

And by "much less partisan," I assume you mean "right wing," since your bias is v. clear in your post and choice of sources to link ...
