is training paid with FMC?

Just got my PRN position as an LVN here in DFW at an FMC clinic. I am full-time with Davita. My 10 weeks of training with Davita were paid. Does FMC offer pay for training? I would assume yes, but just wanted to make sure. I have to attend 2 weeks of class (on my off-days) then work about 60 hours in-center. I will shoot myself in the foot if the classroom is anything like Davita Prep. I hated that nonsense! Has anyone else experienced the misery that is Davita Prep? lol

You should get paid training time as well with FMC. Even though you are experienced in dialysis, FMC has their own P&P's that are different from Davita. The annual required inservices are done in 1 all-day session that will have you bored to tears ( and another additional half-day inservice for nurses) but it is still better than endless LMS courses that you can never get done. You most likely won't have to travel out of town either.

Omg the LMS!! You are right there...when I was with Davita the FA insisted on us doing them from home without pay of which I refused. If I dont get paid I dont do it. Not anymore at least. Only thing about the Davita prep I enjoyed was the "open bar" at the end of the day lol.

Well it looks like I caught a break. 4 days of FMC class, and I'm the only student! Hooray! They are making a one-on-one session for me to do on my off-days, so I'll be there t/th this week and the next. And being the only one sounds great, since I couldnt stand hearing the newbie questions over and over and over when I had to re-take the davita prep due to getting my license. whew!

You did get a lucky break! Since you will be the only one in class, you will probably be able to cover the material quicker & maybe get out of class earlier. Alot of it is stuff you have heard before, like the water system & water checks, etc. There is also a written competency exam you have to take, but you will go over it with your inservice instructor. Keep us posted on how it goes!

You get paid for ANY training. It's the law. If your FA asked you to LMS at home, without pay, that is against the labor laws. I'm an FA, and if anyone does anything at home, there choice, not mine. they clock there hours and get paid. LMS is a pain!!!
