do u have an idea how much does a renal/dialysis nurse usually get?...in IL? thanks...

How do you like working for DaVita? Are you pushed out the door before you can really complete your job? By the way, I've been a dialysis nurse for 2 years. I started out at $21 an hour (had been a BSN for 16 years at that time). Got a raise to $23. Then DaVita bought us and they did a cost adjustment raise and I get $25 an hour.

I think this all depends on the type of FA you have. The Davita facility I work for kept me on the regular orientation schedule which was approximately 3 months before I started taking charge. Also they took thier time and made sure I was prepared to do what was expected. They never pushed me to do something I was uncomfortable with. Thus far my experience with Davita has been very good. As I said it all comes down to the current management within your facility.

You are so right. I too can not believe that they make such a small amount. LPNs in NY make more than that. My girl friend in NY makes 45/hr on wkdays for per diem in a dialysis clinic.

:monkeydance:Would anyone happen to know how much new grad RNs make in dialysis clinics in NY?

hi guys i have been a dialysis nurse for 20+ years, in new york i made 38.00/hr in an outpatient facilty, in the last hospital i work it was 36./hr. 1 year ago i moved to grand rapids mi, i now make 29./hr, 2.00 for being on call and have to be on call at lease 3 times a month. it is quite a let down..i agree with all of you we deserve more money for what we do...nephrotaz63

New York is a very expensive place, and people pay a lot to live there. I'm not sure what part of New York you are talking about, but Manhattan area was outrageous in prices back in the 80's so. I would think they would pay a heck of a lot more. Here in California, the rates are very different from clinic to acutes. $26.00 RN's at clinics and $26 to $34 dollars for Acute RN's with little to so many years of experience, here in San Diego area. Kaiser Hospital pays the BEST...and UCSD pays the next best wage for Acute Dialysis RN's.

Specializes in Dialysis.

in TX my boss is offering me 20/hr to start once I am done with my LVN...

:banghead: good lord, y'all are starting out close to the same rate i am getting after 7+ years of hemo!!!!!!!! Good for you!!! maybe i should quit my current company(davita), and do a little job hunting....while i love my job, getting up @ 3:30AM, putting up with grouchy techs, hostile pts, temperamental machines, hey-y'know what i am talking about....24.90 an hour sounds pretty pathetic right now. At some point, we all are working for a pay check, thanks for the info---i am up for my review in a couple of weeks...never had a poor one, so i am going to name a number this time!!! I'll keep ya posted , TDN

The thing is Davita starting pay is good but for the nurses that worked there for a long time the pay raises are very small, and for a nurse with experience it isn't that different from a new nurse just starting out in HD. That is why nurses sometimes have to move around, better thier education to do better...Davita in WNY starts at 23.90 without the differential, however, 1 1/2 hours away in Rochester the pay is much better...so it is all dependent on supply and demand. The shortage in Rochester is bigger, most all hospitals have nice bonus just for signing on...it is all relative.

You have to look at working conditions, benefits, distance from your home. your coworkers, the management...it isn't just the $$ /hr. A lot of people leave a job and are so sorry...good luck.

IF YOU ARE MAKING THAT AS A SALARY WITH YOU EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD CHECK ARIZONA

AND THE COMPANY IS DSI YOU YOU COULD START

27-28 WITH 2.50 CHARGE NURSE PAY TOY ARE VERY UNDERPAID.

I am a recent graduate of a Patient Care Technician program looking to work with DaVita in Southwest Florida ... anyone know what the PCT starting salary with them is?

Anyone wanting dialysis experience, check out Alaska. It seems they always have an RN opening and they will consider new grads. I don't know what new grad pay is, but I was up to 37/hr when I left, and then $41 when I went back to work for a few months w.o benefits that time. Alaska doesn't take out state tax, plus if you work anything over 8 hrs its time and a half in the clinics for anything beyond 8 hrs. Doesn't matter if you work only one day that week and not 40 hrs. Anything above 8 hrs is time and a half! That extra $ sure comes in handy... The hospital pays up to $48/hr in acutes.

Specializes in Edu,MS, Ortho,Trauma, Tele, Dialysis, HH.

Davita's pay depends SOLELY on the regional director you have. They don't look at your experience nor edge as a dedicated nurse. I worked as an RN who had 10years exp and was capable to charge. I later on learned that a new grad in some other clinic was offered $2/hr more. I believe It'll take some technique to go around the industry to land the job with a reasonable pay these days....

I have worked for 9 years as a PCT with Davita in Kansas and am now graduating with my Associate RN. Was curious as to what starting wage I might anticipate, and whether the years of experience in dialysis should be a good basis for a higher starting wage as a graduate nurse. Any insight?

Acutes program in Nashville TN making $27 plus differentials. 5 years ICU experience.;)
