I have blood in my urine

Hi.

I am a ADN student - completed my 1st year already. A month ago, I had my annual blood test/urinalysis, etc., and they found a trace amt of blood in my urine. Doc wanted to re-do in 30 days to see if was definitely a problem, well I re-did it this week, and it still shows a trace amount of blood. I have an appointment with a Urologist on July 18th, but that seems like forever when you are worried about something.

I have noticed lately that I've had to pee more often, and maybe some very slight irritation. I've have some pain in my back - but it's been off and on for awhile, and had actually wondered to myself if it was my kidney. I didn't mention it to the doc when I went for checkup because it wasn't hurting then & I forgot.

My question is - is it possible to have a stone and not be in severe pain? Or is it possible to have an infection causing the blood and have an otherwise normal UA?

8 years ago I had a carcinoid tumor in my appendix, so I always seem to think the worse. I have done fine and had no re-currence of tumor - it was completely removed.

Looking things up on the internet, I've read if you have blood - assume it's bladder cancer until proven otherwise........ and then if you have blood and increased frequency in urination that is s/s of bladder cancer. I'm just freaking out!

I just finished my summer class today, and am out until August 22nd. We are leaving Tuesday for a short vacation to a theme park and to visit my sister, and I have this weighing on my mind. And now every pain I feel in my back or side is magnified.

Can anyone give me information? Hope? Dispair? More reason to worry?? Anything is better than nothing I suppose.

Thank you in advance

Paula

Hello Girls,

That is, assuming you are girls!!

Anyway i did also suffer a lot because of those bloody kidney stones.

I had 4 lipso, i went to E.R at least 15 times within 4 years. My last major kidney stone crisis was on a plane 8 months.

I decided to go on the web and follow the weird advices of some people also suffering from kidney stones. I drank aloe vera juice and took some magnesium pills, it seemed to work but the BEST ADVICE was definitely to drink at least 2 liters of water a day AND AND AND LEMON JUICE.

Drink at least the juice of one or two lemons a day, it is a desinfectant and prevent kidney stone formation or/and it does reduce the size of the existing stone. i havent had any problem since december last week which is a miracle for me as i was suffering from the stones at least every 2 months even if sometimes i didnt need hospital treatment.

If i dont drink my lemon juice for like 4 weeks , my urine becomes more red and then i suspect a nasty kidney stone so i drink 4 or 5 lemon a day for 4 days and then, after a small pain when i urinate (which i assume is the stone flushing out) everything is back to normal. Hope this advice will help you.

I have been having the same problem for a couple of weeks.Long story made short...had intense flank pain, sudden onset, went to doctor, had x rays (results ok) & pushed fluids. It went away & follow up still showed trace of blood. The doctor asked me did I drink a lot of Ski & Mt. Dew because she had tested it for blood & it tested positive. She said she did not know the reason as to why but for me to slack of & then have my urine checked again before we went any futher.
