Hospital POC Meal Delivery Plan

  1. 0 I'm just wondering what other hospitals protocols are. Currently, we let competent patients order their own meals from 6:30a to 6:30pm in intervals of their choice. For example, if a patient orders their meal and they are a diabetic the tray gets a labeled green card that says POC. The tray passer then leaves the tray at the desk and the CNA gets a POC when they see the tray at the desk and then delivers the tray while the nurses gives the insulin. We ask the pts to let the CNA or RN know when they order a meal however this rarely happens. We are trying to find a more efficient way to make this all happen. Right now there's a big delay on when the tray passer leaves it and when the patient actually receives. Any thoughts?
