Avandia Oral /Rosiglitazone

Updated Apr 23, 2008 at 02:39 AM by UKPedsRN

Having done a lot of internet research on this drug, I hoped that a Diabetic specialist could enlighten me on the side effects of Avandia in relation to Aneamia.
All the documents I have read imply that the Aneamia is always mild.
Has anyone come across a moderate to severe aneamia as a side effect, and can anyone explain why aneamia should occur?
Also can you explain why this drug causes shaking, I am really try to understand the impact of this drug on patients 60+
Another question, how long after this drug has been stopped would one expect side effects such as aneamia and shaking to stop?
Thanks

I was not even aware of those side effects and was on the drug for a year. Could the shaking be related to hypoglycemia? Are you suggesting a neurological relationship? Will be interesting to see the responses you get.

The shaking that I have seen does not appear to be related to high or low blood sugars.

It is quite pronounced and lasts about 45-60 seconds then tails off to slight shaking for a further minute.

It is quite strange to observe.

I think that these side effects are not a problem for younger patients, I think the side effects are more pronounced in the older (60+) patient.

I really would appreciate others comments on this subject matter
