EEG Question

by sixes

Our nephew suffered his first Grand mal seizure in Dec he is Autistic and 18 years old. I feel he is now having simple seizures.
Doctor's have put him on Ativan 1 mg po bid it seemed to work for a while but symptoms are back
He had a normal CT Scan.
My big question is can an Autistic person who has suffered a grand Mal seizure have a normal EEG?

Hey sixes,

Yes, the EEG can be normal. Actually 60% of EEG's are normal in kids with epilepsy/seizure disorders, but a normal EEG does not rule out seizures. Autistic kids are more likely to have seizures than non autistic kids. Not sure why.
